One of the greatest experiences I had staying somewhere. The guests were very hospitable and generous. The fresh and smoked trout was delicious.

The Barn at Taradale is located in a serene setting amongst well established gardens, peaceful surroundings and a picturesque landscape. The residence has ample space to cater for an extended family and is pet friendly. The Barn decor has a cosy, rustic feel with exposed beams, open fire places and crisp fresh white linen. There are sufficient amenities to get you started, otherwise the well appointed kitchen has everything required to self cater. Next to the barn is wisteria covered outdoor entertainment area with a wood fired pizza oven, a perfect accompaniment for this charming home. The paved walkways take you to a beautifully landscaped rose garden, an orchard of quinces, plum and apple trees and mulberry bushes takes you towards a lovely gazebo situated near a pool that overlooks a gorgeous vineyard next to a winding little river. Whilst Google maps may tell you that you are in Taradale, you can easily be fooled into thinking you are in Tuscany!

If you need some open space, this is the place! The boys wondered around , lots to explore. Surroundings are full of good restaurants and places to see. Very peaceful experience.

Jenny’s was a lovely little nook on one of Castlemaine’s many hills. She has curated a house, inside and out, that is truly a home. Being people of a certain age, we enjoyed the retro curios that would frankly be interesting to most people. A must for us is a comfortable bed. It was. After a day of activities, we could recharge privately and comfortably at Jenny’s. A satisfying read in the setting sun on wood carved table and seats. The outside bath was a highlight, having a beverage under the slowly darkening sky, stars appearing with every look upwards, magpies carolling and gums waving languidly in the mild evening breeze. This was my second stay here in one of the stone spa cottages and it was just as beautiful as the last time I stayed! The views, birds, sheep, lambs, horses, chickens and the beautiful dogs made our stay even better. Jan and Rob are wonderful hosts and I am thankful for you both sharing your space with us, your hospitality is incredible and very inviting. Thank you for having us stay! We will return again and again!

Fabulous spot to stay. Very comfortable and the hosts were thoughtful to have the place cool prior to check in for us on what was a very very hot day.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend away at Under the Peppercorn Tree. It’s quiet and secluded, and the space itself is well thought out. If you want to stay in, it has everything you need to cook, relax with a book, or sit outside and watch the roos grazing at dusk. If you want to explore Castlemaine it’s a really short drive away and there’s of course lots to see and do. We also appreciated being able to have our pet join us, as well as the Sunday morning surprise croissant delivery.

we spent two nights over the weekend there. Everything was perfectly organized.There was a booklet with clear instructions of everything you neednto know about the place. AC did a great job over the hot 37C day. Red was responsive and helpful. Highly recommend this for couple of quite and relaxing days.

Kim’s place was lovely. We took our two golden retrievers who really appreciated all the little touches that make it ideal for pups - things like snacks for them on arrival and pup friendly bed linen. The area is ideal if you’re looking to step away from the city hustle and bustle, and just vanish into the countryside. Whilst Vaughan is very quiet and peaceful, Daylesford was about a 20-30 mins drive away which of course has plenty to do. An ideal balance of both worlds. Kim’s responses were super quick which was hugely appreciated and a great welcome pack was available too. Highly recommend to anyone who just wants to step away from the world for a little hush time. Lovely quiet place surrounded by beautiful nature and rolling hills. The interior is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a weekend away. I loved the fireplace and the timeless furniture! The only thing that could improve would be that the shower pressure was quite low, and the hot water ran out very quickly! All in all though it was a fantastic stay!

Our stay and studio 1 was amazing! Nicola was a great host, very responsive and friendly when we had requests but also respected our privacy. The studio is decorated Beautifully and we spent a long time admiring her furniture and how well it was put together. We stayed here over our wedding weekend so the photographer came to take some photos beforehand and she agreed they are going to be stunning, the old buildings and beautiful gardens are the perfect backdrop. Couldn’t recommend Nicola’s place more highly for wedding accomodation or just a relaxing weekend away in beautiful Castlemaine.

We loved our stay at Union House 🤩. The beautifully selected retro details were fabulous and every convenience well thought through. It was right right in the heart of Castlemaine with wine bars, a brewery and interesting shopping on the doorstep. We will be back. A perfect stay but too short.🙏🙏🙏 A, R & H🐾

We had an amazing stay here! It was a lovely home away from home. The nature at the cottage was beautiful. Elbert was a great host and shared the ins and outs of what to do in the area. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!! 🌿

We had a wonderful stay here. Our kids absolutely loved waking up to horses , dogs, ducks and kangaroos just over the fence and the house was really comfortable. The complimentary wine, bread and milk was a super thoughtful touch too!

We had a lovely two-night stay at Apple Cottage. It’s so peaceful and pretty, we felt like we’d had a week-long holiday. The gardens are fantastic — we’d love to return and see them across the seasons. We highly recommend having lunch at The Good Food Providers in Maldon. Staying at Fiona's was such a beautiful experience. Nestled into a hill with views across beautiful fields and bush environs of Yandoit. From the moment of opening the door the interior spaces were very welcoming. The building has been lovingly restored, adapted and furnished. My partner and I greatly appreciated feeling comfortable to spend time relaxing, cooking and sitting in the garden, and going for walks along the country roads. When we felt like being more social there was the option to drive to nearby towns like Castlemaine and Daylesford. It feels rare to find such a place.

A gorgeous historic cottage in a lovely, peaceful location! The accommodation had everything we needed and we enjoyed the stroll to and from the Maldon town centre. Appreciated the helpful suggestions of local food and drink options, heating being on and the fire set when we arrived. Thanks for a wonderful stay, we’ll be back!

Lovely space, so peaceful, great location. Close to Castlemaine and all its attractions. Cottage well equiped with quality fittings and cooking utensils . Very clean. Friendly helpful hosts Will definitely be back
