This was a great place to stay as a base camp for exploring western Iceland. Very clean and welcoming. The view is great, the hot tub is perfect after a long day walking around, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and grill had everything we needed in order to cook meals. Jon and Kristin were great and made us feel right at home. They even had chocolate bars for us when we got to the house! A couple minor things to know if you're considering this house. 1. There are 3 bedrooms, but the third bedroom has a sofa bed, not a regular bed. This room is also the TV room, so if you were planning on using the TV a lot, you would need to put the bed back in to a sofa and vice versa each day. This wasn't a big deal for us since we weren't planning to use the TV. 2. One of the reasons I really liked this house is that it had a fireplace. This is true, but it's meant for burning DuraFlame logs, not actual firewood. I didn't realize that "real" fires aren't really a thing in Iceland.

We will be back. Convenient to the airport yet private and secluded. Town of borganes just minutes away with anything you’d need for supplies. Setting is unbelievable. We set our cameras up 4 feet out the back door and photographed northern lights. Short visit of only 4 days, 3 of which we just relaxed at the house, hiked the side of the river and enjoyed the sauna. The one day we ventured out was to a nearby spa and a few other scenic waterfalls. We tripped a breaker first night when a guest plugged in 110 volt rated power strip and Gudlaug had an electrician there within hours to check things. Modern appliances and kitchen and very clean. Sipping coffee in the living room while gazing out the picture windows over looking the waterfall made it hard to leave the house every day. We hope to return very soon.

unbelievable view, beautiful house, hot tub that overlooked mountains and lake was a huge bonus. we were sad to leave! amazing place!

Ása is a great host and we found her cottage to be actually much nicer and more spacious than in the pictures. We had a slight heating issue at first, but Ása was very responsive, fixed it promptly and helped us by instructing us to use the mobile radiators (that were already in the house). Unexpected things happen sometimes, but with Ása you can be sure you'll be in the best hands in case something goes wrong and she'll always have your back! :) Other than that, we found the location rather calm, private and conveniently located. The main road is not as close as some previous reviewers stated, and we found it to be a non-issue. It had more of a vibe of being a guest in someone else's house rather than at a typical Airbnb (and that's great). Very cozy yet elegant and sophisticated interiors, a sunroom, always-on hot tub, comfy beds, tons of kitchen amenities - you'll even find bathrobes! :) A lovely host and a lovely place, we'll definitely want to come back. This is the second time I have stayed with Ragnar, and have felt right at home each time. The best place to stay in the Vesturlands.

Besutiful house, contains everything you will ever need. Incredible surroundings.

Sehr gemütlicher und trotz frostigen Aussentemperaturen in der Nacht wunderbar warmer Caravan. Alles da, was man braucht - sogar ein Hotpot draussen.

Beautiful cabin in the woods! Quiet and peaceful with almost no one around. Outdoor shower, great hot tub, and absolute stunning scenery. A short walk from a creek and small waterfall. I never wanted to leave!

Gudny was an amazing, generous, and kind host. We felt immediately right at home and the home is well stocked with everything you could need as you adventure around Iceland. The location was excellent for our needs and it was quiet with beautiful views. The home was exactly as expected and the hot tub and outdoor shower were excellent! We would 100% stay again and highly recommend staying!!
