Right on the seafront by the boat club with a lovely decking terrace to sit out on, this was the peaceful holiday I was looking for. We came on the boat without a car and walked from the ferry. There were buses around the island but we pretty much enjoyed walking along the front in and out of Cowes, and reading our books with the sea lapping away just a few yards away. When you are cooking at the hob, all you can see is the sea and the boats going past. I even swam in the Solent - FREEZING! But apparently it is at its coldest in March. Bracing. There is a pub 100 yards up the hill which is pleasant enough, and a few nice cafes and bistros in Cowes. A perfect writers retreat, or reader’s retreat in my case! Deborah very friendly and accommodating .

Great and cozy accommodation! Location is perfect close to the beautiful lake and the beach as well as to the train station. Immediate response for my messages. Suitable for Portsmouth visitors! Definitely worth the money and if I ever come back to Portsmouth I would stay again. Thank you

The accommodation has real personality and was very original in its design. Everything we needed was there and access was easy. I particularly liked being able to walk straight on to the lagoon from the property via the back gate. The owner was friendly and not intrusive. Loved the estuary and the birds. Thank you for a lovely break.

The Lawn is a beautiful old country home with spectacular gardens and the River Test running through. The house is very spacious, all the rooms are large and there are plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen is well equipped and central to the house which makes hanging out as a group easy. Lord Denning’s library is very impressive, and it’s fun to be able to see the historic artifacts of his life, career and friends throughout the downstairs. There are a couple of restaurant/pubs within walking distance, and the excellent Watership Down Inn is about 2km away, easy drive. Whitchuch station is very close to town too, with trains from Clapham Junction hourly. Lots of walking trails in the immediate area, and the garden itself is very tranquil, with lots of areas to sit or hang out/picnic by the River Test and watch the fish, ducks, other birds and otter(!). Perfect for a large party reunion.
