We've been visiting Joshua Tree for years, but it's really gotten busy there. The Adobe is the ideal desert getaway, just far enough out for total isolation, yet just a fifteen-minute drive to the National Park and the restaurants of downtown Twentynine Palms. The Adobe itself is a legit old-school adobe. The woodwork, the adobe walls, the furnishings -- all of it takes you back and holds you firmly in the early 20th century. It's hard to imagine such a place existing in 2024! Cary was super friendly and helpful, too. We can't wait to go back. Thanks Cary!

I felt exceptionally fortunate to discover this place. I loved staying in this space in regard to the simplicity and sufficiency of the accommodations and the opportunity to be in view of Mount Shasta. Both Mary and Fred were very responsive hosts. I hope to return.

This quaint studio has a stunning view of the ocean, provides two beautiful patios to enjoy and is well equipped for all of your cooking needs! The bed is super comfortable! We also appreciated that it is dog friendly. Communication with Cindy was great. The place was extremely clean and we felt right at home for the long weekend, visiting Van Damme, Mendocino and the local surf breaks! Thanks for a great stay!

We had such a fun and unique experience. Perfect for our family! Lots to explore both inside, with the eclectic art, and outside across the sprawling and isolated grounds.

I had an amazing stay at the Hobbit Hut in Santa Rosa! The directions were clear and easy to follow, making arrival a breeze. The energy of the space was incredible — peaceful, grounding, and perfect for reconnecting with nature. It’s an ideal spot for events or gatherings, and everyone I encountered was kind, insightful, and genuinely present. Coming from city life, this was exactly the reset I needed. I’m truly grateful for the experience and can’t recommend it enough!

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend staying at Karin's incredible Danish-style abode. She was so welcoming and warm upon arrival, and was incredibly accomodating to our adjusted arrival time of 10pm! Anything we could possibly need, Karin had on hand and was always there for us. Waking up to fresh coffee and organic yogurt bowls made us feel like we were staying at a 5 star resort. And echoing everyone else - Karin's omlettes are second to none!! The property itself is also so stunnning, and it truly feels like you're miles away from busy San Francisco. Karin also gave us a fantastic tour of the area on her ATV, including her baby chickens and beautiful free-roaming horses! Whether you're looking for a quick getaway like us, or are interested in staying for a full week's time, I can't recommend Karin's one of a kind home enough. We're looking forward to our next stay!

The land in the sky is a gem! We had everything we needed and space to spare. I would 11/10 come back to stay. Know that you will be on a dirt road to get here, just like Nathan describes. And that the park is about a 25 min drive just to get to the gates. It was so, so worth it though. We captured every sunrise and sunset just by staying here. Not to mention EPIC skies at night that are truly undisturbed by any surrounding light. We did leave early for one morning hike and it all worked out perfectly. The record player skips but it still played some of the albums and really brought the place to life!

Super kind host. Quiet and safe place!

The house was perfect for our group trip to Palm Springs. The beautiful backyard was perfect for lounging by the pool and enjoying the weather, and the rooms were set up well. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the location is convenient and close to downtown. As noted by others the house is in the flight path to the airport. The more sensitive sleepers in our group noticed the noise from airplanes taking off and landing early in the morning, while others weren't bothered by it at all. However overall it was a great stay in a great house and great location!

Fantastic place to stay with a large group, and a great location! Cheap lyfts to the gas lamp and airport. Right by Balboa Park and walkable to several wonderful restaurants. The apartments were very clean and had all amenities we'd need. The hosts were very organized. Highly recommended!

Trung and Mitch were great host! They answered any inquiries in a timely manner and were helpful. The Airbnb was also stunning and close to downtown.

Absolutely gorgeous home. Loved the house, neighborhood was serene and I was surprised by how many amazing restaurants were nearby. Easy access to Joshua Tree! Would love to come back here again soon

We had a great stay in La Quinta - thanks largely to this property! Only .5 mile from Old Town La Quinta meant easy walking access to coffee and restaurants, we also especially enjoyed being so close to the Cove Oasis Trailhead (my husband and I did the a wonderful 4 mile loop for a trail run), and the backyard pool for relaxing mid-afternoon. Would absolutely come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Terra's home! It was a great place to stay for us as a base to go up to the snow, and being in such a magical house with beautiful surroundings added a lot of enjoyment to our trip. We loved seeing all the animals nearby and going for a hike down to the river. I'm hoping we get to return for another season soon!

We loved our stay in the Earthen Yurt! Perfect for a weekend getaway in an absolutely stunning environment. The outdoor shower was incredible, and we loved cozying up to the wood-burning stove and reading in the evening. So excited to return and explore the property more!

We visited from San Francisco- lots of people and cars. We came to the this nature surrounding house, that kind of reminds me of princesses Mononoke by Hayao Miyazaki. My kids love to explore secured vibe large yard - well, it’s like huge nature with a big private lake. We were able to experience new feelings that haven’t been seen recently and overall, this place made our time fly quickly. I wish we could stay there longer.

In short, the Hobbit house was amazing. I do like to make note that there were various places with spider webs that were visually unpleasant, inbetween the door slider to the balcony, on the way to the little sauna-like room accessible in the bathroom of the main bedroom, or the fireplace that is clearly never used. These are nitpicks that dings a bit but nothing to undermine how great this place is. There are many special places I've stayed and this is one of the few that I would actually mean it when i say I'll be back.

Wow! This place was fantastic. I spent a long weekend at this home with two friends for my birthday weekend and had a blast. The home is exactly like the photos, even better I would argue! The bathtub by the window is divine. All the beds and pillows were so comfortable. We had a spectacular time and can’t wait to come back again! The hosts were so kind and accommodating, they even sent me a personalized chocolate cake for my birthday celebration! Could not recommend more!!

What an amazing long weekend we had at Casa Tierra! The house is beautiful, the views even more so. The real highlight of the trip might be Bo though--I've never met a sweeter cat and we had a lot of fun petting him every time he showed up on our porch! The house is spacious, unique, and well-stocked (lots of games, kitchen tools, spare blankets, heaters for the bedrooms, shampoo, etc.) We appreciated the fire that was going before we arrived, and my daughter described her bath after a day of hiking as "the coziest EVER!" The driveway is long but Isabel's instructions and photos made it very easy to find. Our trip came with some unexpected adventures--a tree down across the driveway and a thunderstorm that knocked out the power, but Steve took care of the tree quickly and Isabel texted to tell us where to find lanterns and a lighter for the stove. Casa Tierra was the perfect home base for a fun weekend in Fort Bragg/Mendocino, and we will definitely stay here again in the future!

Amazing experience! My husband booked our stay for our anniversary & everything exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect setting & breakfast was incredible both days we were there. We truly felt like we stayed in the Shire! Highly recommend especially if you are a Tolkien fan!

My whole family gathered for Thanksgiving here. The house was even more beautiful than the pictures! It was like an oasis and we found everything one needed to feel right at home. We highly recommend this stay.

Absolutely stunning, sunrises and sunset surrounded by joshua tree’s. As someone displaced from their house due to unfortunate circumstances this was a much needed place of peace and calm. Also, the architectural book collection is incredible. Heavily recommend if you have a large party because there’s three separate small kitchens I stayed because I wanted to stay in a natural building.

If you’re looking for 5 star this isn’t it. However, if you want a great memorable unique cozy couples get away. It’s perfect for that. 😊
