-It was very good to sleep and so peaceful and silent. -We stayed a whole month on the coldest time and the apartment was warm. -Kitchen was wellwared; there was all utensils that you can need and big fridge and the freezer. -The very best place for a family. It was spacious and there are interesting toys, books and puzzles inside, and outside there is a playarea. The schools playground was near. There is also a very friendly church in a walking distance, with a kids club. Our kids and us loved to go in there. -The hosts were more than only hosts; they were so friendly and heartful. They helped us to solve our problems in our travels. The hosts had really thought our needs.

This place is amazing! I stayed for 5 days in March - kind of an in between season - but it was just what I needed. Very peaceful, spectacular sunrises, and I even saw a bald eagle flying really close to the house. This is a beautiful lake home with all kinds of luxuries and a ton of space. I loved the soaking tub and the huge kitchen. I think my favorite thing of all was all the natural light that came in through all of the tall windows. I discovered that Chub Lake Retreat is only 6 miles from Jay Cooke State Park! I drove over there one day and saw the half frozen river and falls. The location of this lake home is ideal for anyone who'd like to explore Jay Cooke or Duluth. Not to mention Chub Lake! The property is large, so the neighbors are not too close. There's a hot tub and fire pit outside too! This is truly a great find. Don't hesitate to book!

We loved our stay at the cabin! Wonderful, private place and beautiful surroundings! You can really tell that it was built with lots of attention the detail and love!

The Roost was a fun little retreat for a weekend in winter. Jason and the other hosts were very responsive and friendly. The space heater along with the insulated wood floors made for a very cozy time. If you go, make sure to bring your own bedding and pillows. I look forward to coming again in the summer!

We enjoyed our stay up at the cabin! The owners were so friendly and helpful with showing us around. The cabin was beautifully decorated and well stocked. There were so many amenities available to us to use. We loved the privacy of the property and how quiet and serene it was. We hope to come back to make more family memories. We had a fantastic stay! The cabin is so cozy and cute, outfitted with everything you need. Super tidy and clean as well! For anyone considering a cold weather stay, the cabin heats up quickly and stays toasty warm with the gas fireplace! Very friendly communicative hosts!

Better than advertised! Derek and Brandon are the consummate hosts for their unique “cabin” stay. We stayed three nights and still didn’t take advantage of all the amenities (though the indoor sauna and fireplace got good workouts!). Even in wet winter meltdown weather, the place has a little bit of fairy tale to it with a covered bridge and patch of woods for wandering. Summer outdoors would be sublime, but the fabulous sun room gave us the next best thing. We spent a lot of time there reading, relaxing, and peering with our dogs into the forest vista, straining to spot a big buck or porcupine. If you’re looking for a posh spot to get out of the city and enjoy some nature, privacy, and great hospitality, this is a good bet.
