The house is a great stay and the host is fantastic! Kristen is very responsive, helpful, and even offered to extend our stay at a reduced rate. The house is right on the water with an amazing dock. The community is gated and has great amenities--we enjoyed the playground and the hiking trails. Definitely beats any hotel in the area!

We visited Phillip’s lake house for a long weekend to celebrate our daughter’s upcoming 17th birthday, along with a few of her friends and our family. Within 20 minutes of being there, our daughter asked us if we could rent again this summer! The house is beautifully appointed (the girls loved the leopard stair runners!), and the home was absolutely pristine. The owners have left no stone unturned when it comes to detail, instruction and comfort, and there was plenty to entertain our crew inside and out! The surroundings are somewhat ethereal, not to mention peaceful, even with 6 teen girls, a ten year old boy, and our pup! We all loved that he got to join us, and being the water dog he is, he was in heaven! Our favorites were exploring the lake in the canoe and other water toys, so generously provided, and star gazing on the dock! We can’t wait to visit again! This home may have become our new Highlands tradition!

The property exceeded our expectations. Plenty of living space inside and out, great amenities, super comfortable beds. Everything we needed was provided for. The hosts were proactive and answered any questions we had right away. Would definitely stay here in the future.

The house was exactly as advertised. Incredibly clean and well stocked. Easy to get in and even smelled great. The kitchen was equipped with EVERY utensil we possibly needed. We were only able to use the paddle boards on our last day due to weather but they were great when we did. Also enjoyed a campfire and saw a million stars on clear nights. Overall we loved the place and felt right at home.

I am a consultant working on a project here in Hartwell and stayed at Dan's place for 4 months. Dan is an absolutely amazing host. He is communicative, attentive, and ALWAYS very quick to respond. The place is beautiful, clean, quiet, and comfortable. I had no issues feeling at home the entire time I was staying here. I will look to book here first when I come back to Hartwell later this year. Absolutely loved this house!! The sunset was breathtaking, wildlife was everywhere, fishing, relaxing, and family time was the goal of this stay and this little place was beyond expectations. We booked another stay on our swine day here because it’s worth it and a nice getaway. Highly recommend!

This was the absolute perfect cabin/lake house getaway! Wendy provides a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that is extremely inviting. All the comforts of home, too.

Amazing location with an incredible view.

We were there for a fishing trip, and everything was wonderful. The power, was a tad far from the boat dock, for charging boat batteries, but we could extend a few drop cords and make it work. Loved it and will be back if available.

This is the second time staying here and it just does not disappoint for anything. Highly recommend Its very clean,beautiful decorated ,excellent location,comfortable, it just checks all the boxes.

Lakeside Retreat is a very nice, cozy, clean and comfortable place to stay. Tom and Christine are very friendly, the Ducks at the lake are cute and so is the dog. We enjoyed our stay!

This was a beautiful Airbnb! My fiancé and I staid the night as we were driving through on a road trip. The Airbnb was right on the water and had a peaceful backyard as well as a kayak, and it was so so cozy inside. It was by far one of our favorite Airbnb stays, we will definitely be returning! We really enjoyed our stay. From kayaking to sipping coffee on the back porch, it was great. The beds were so comfy, and the kitchen was stocked with all the needs to make it easy to enjoy a cooked meal. We will return!

Very nice place. Felt like home. Cottage was clean. Boat ramp and bait store was close which was very nice. All around great place to stay. Trudy the host was very responsive to messages, we had bad weather coming in and she texted and offered to come and open the basement for us for safety. Would definitely see if the cottage is available for next trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family's stay at Cottages # 1 and # 2. It was beautiful and peaceful. What a gorgeous setting! We were able to access the docks and rented a boat which we kept there overnight. As others have mentioned, there are 130 steps down to the dock from Cottage 1. Cottage 2's path to the other deck had less steps but you also have to walk on a rocky trail. Cottage 2's deck is covered. The only other issue at Cottage 1 was the steeper / gravel driveway, which has also been mentioned in a review. Cottage 2's driveway was level. It was okay for us because we had a truck with 4WD. We parked the sedan further up the hill. We didn't mind the walk to Cottage 1 or between the cottages, but an elderly person might. Otherwise, these 2 cottages were in a picture-perfect setting and we had great time there with our families, babies and dogs! Thank you!

Really enjoyed our night here. Appreciated the clear instructions and everything is labeled well. The house and area is beautiful, sad it was too rainy to take advantage of the canoes. Would definitely stay here again.

We had the best experience booking with Kim! It was so beautiful and peaceful where we stayed. From kayaking, to grilling out and playing corn hole, to ending our nights with a fire.. everything was great! 10/10 recommend this stay for anyone looking. Thanks again, Kim! :)
