The house and property are beautiful and very private. The back porch was a great location to watch the sunsets. Also, kitchen now a microwave which was a bonus since previous comments talked about no microwave. Our phones connected to 5G so the fact that there was no a TV or wifi wasn't an issue for us. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The house is about 30-40 minutes (or less) from 3-4 state parks. Would definitely stay again!

My Mom, sisters and I recently stayed at Dave and Sara's 'Lake of Egypt Hilltop Retreat' for a girls' weekend, and we had a great time! The cozy property has beautiful views of Lake of Egypt and it's really a serene setting. The accommodations were great for our group. We really loved the open-concept living and dining area where we were able to gather comfortably to chat, share meals, and relax after exploring the area. The fully equipped kitchen made meal prep a breeze. We weren't able to fully enjoy the outdoor space with the deck and firepit due to the bitterly cold temps and rain, but we hope to be able to enjoy both during our next stay. The retreat's location was ideal, offering a peaceful escape while still being close (20-min drive) to plenty of activities. We loved exploring the nearby trails in Shawnee National Forest and some cute breakfast spot and antique shops. This was the perfect setting for quality time with my Mom and sisters. Everything was exactly as described and as pictured. It was super clean and cozy.

Kate was by far the most communicative , kind, helpful host I have experienced. I was driving 9 hours in inclement weather to see an elderly friend in the hospital. She sent me meteorological reports and checked on me twice during my drive. I felt very safe and comfortable in her clean, quiet, sweet home with several very nice touches to the decor. I felt relaxed in a situation that could have been very stressful, thanks to her and her lovely place.

This places was excellent. We enjoyed our stay. The place was cozy and comfortable, had what we needed. We were there on a Friday night…be warned it can get a little noisy outside so if that bothers you, then staying on a fairly busy street with lots of businesses probably isn’t for you. We weren’t bothered at all. Lots of great stores and restaurants on the same stretch of road. Definitely enjoyed our stay.

Can't say enough about our weekend at Brian's house. Fantastic! He was incredibly responsive and generous. We were there for a wedding and 6 of us stayed and had a lovely time. Thank you!!!

This place is so charming and so cute. It's private and cozy, but also just a mile from all the sights, restaurants , boutiques in Ste Genevieve. We loved the hot tub and the back porch where we could sit and relax. Kitchen was well-appointed - we did a lot of cooking.

Wonderful place for relaxation and time with family. The hot tub and sauna made it feel like a spa. The lake was beautiful and peaceful. Very comfortable home with areas to relax and watch the view. Nicely decorated. Beautiful view of the sunset from the dock. Lots of things to do in the basement to keep everyone entertained. Spacious kitchen for cooking meals.
