Great little flat, but felt like a cottage. Great views of the bridge, river and castle, next to a busy road but no noise in the bedrooms, just the sound of the river. Short walk into town, with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs/places to eat. Accommodation matches all the photos and description and had everything we needed. Would recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

Thanks for letting us have access to this lovely and interesting apartment which worked well for two adults and two teens. Lovely beds and bed linen. Thoughtful addition of throws on sofa and plug in heaters, occasionally used to top up the heat as exceptionally cold outside and sleeting at times. A great long-weekend had by all.

James Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely apartment. It is a fantastic location and very clean and friendly. Loved the fact you left us some essentials, including a bottle of Prosecco. It was also very nice to be flexible on check out time, although we didn't take advantage of that, and definitely a place we would stay in again. The second bedroom being either a super king or two singles is also very helpful. Thanks Keith

Cronkley Cottage is a very special place! It is surrounded by beautiful nature and we felt so peaceful there. We watched some spectacular sunsets over the reservoir, saw deer outside the window in the morning and did some stargazing using the telescope at night. It was magical. The house itself has been beautifully decorated and has all the amenities you could need. The bed was incredibly comfortable too! The hosts have created a brilliant interactive guide which they sent before our stay which was fab for recommending local activities! They were really helpful with getting the place set up for our baby with the cot and allowed an early check in and late check out which was great! We will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend as a place to get away from it all and truly relax! Thanks again! X

I had a wonderful stay at JC’s place. The house is in a fantastic location—just a 12-minute walk to the university, with supermarkets, shops, and essential amenities all within a 15-minute walk, and the train station about 20 minutes away on foot. The area is both convenient and quiet, making it a great choice for students and long-term stays. The house itself is well-furnished, modern, and fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The furniture and appliances are in great condition, and the living space is cozy and well-maintained. JC is an incredibly warm and supportive host. She is always proactive in offering help whenever needed, making us feel truly cared for—almost like being part of a family. Her kindness and responsiveness made our experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a convenient, well-equipped, and welcoming home in the area!

Lovely stay in a comfortable house which was set in a beautiful location. Les made us feel very welcome and had left thoughtful and generous touches for Christmas including putting up a tree and decorations, and gifting us cava, cake, chocolates, nuts and fruit. Any questions were answered promptly and helpfully.

This is an amazing place to stay. Nice and spacious and modern. The space was more than enough for the 6 of us that went. The games room was a hit with the kids and was an added bonus. We slept really well and felt right at home.

Had a lovely stay, enjoyed walking around the local area and felt very safe. Responsive and friendly host with great local recommendations and quickly resolved a relatively minor issue for us.

I would definitely recommend Chris’s place. It is clean, spacious and beautiful! As a host, Chris was very helpful and responsive. If I’m ever in Durham again, I’d stay here!

Another lovely stay at this wonderful apartment. It is so quiet and relaxing yet only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Durham and very close to the Cathedral. The apartment was spotless and stylishly and very comfortably furnished. The kitchen has everything you could need to cater for yourselves but with a bakery on your doorstep and pubs, restaurants and a Tesco and a Greggs only a few mins walk away theres plenty of choice if you preferred not to cook. Chris & Wendy provide lots of extras on arrival such as bread, croissants, biscuits, eggs, Tiptree jams, milk, orange juice, butter, Prosecco & Lindt chocolates. There is a coffee machine with a huge choice of coffee capsules to choose from and it is so nice to sit on the balcony over the river with a morning coffee watching the wildlife and the river flowing by. We cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough and are looking forward to returning again next year for an even longer stay.
