We had the most incredible stay at Mayen Estate! From the moment we arrived, Ross and Valerie made us feel so welcome. Ross was always helpful, polite, and attentive to every detail, ensuring we had everything we needed. Their hospitality truly made the experience unforgettable. I honestly don’t think I will ever forget the house and the stay at Mayen estate. The estate itself is beyond magical. Even in the depths of winter, when outdoor activities were limited, the sheer beauty and charm of the place were more than enough. The highlight for us was the hot tub—it was such a treat to relax in after a chilly day, adding a perfect touch of luxury to our stay. Every moment spent here felt like a dream. If you’re looking for a serene, magnificent escape where you’ll be cared for by amazing hosts, Mayen Estate is the place to be. We can’t recommend it enough and look forward to returning someday!

Fantastic Family Retreat in the Highlands! We recently enjoyed a wonderful stay in the Scottish Highlands, and our Airbnb experience was top-notch! The cottage was perfect for our family—spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was a fantastic bonus for relaxing after a day of exploring. The location is a dream for nature lovers, with plenty of walking trails, nature areas, and castles nearby. Our kids loved the private playground and ample space to run around safely. Our hosts were very helpful and quick to respond to any queries, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Their attentiveness ensured we felt well cared for throughout our visit. We highly recommend this place to families looking to experience the beauty of the Highlands. We had a fantastic time and will cherish the memories made in this lovely setting!

My husband and I and our 20 year old daughter had a wonderful stay at Butler Cottage. The estate grounds are amazing with a mix of woodland and farm fields scattered over the hills. We enjoyed daily walks done and along the river. If your animal lovers like we are it was extra special. The Highland cows and sheep add beauty to the scenery, but the deer, hares, pheasants and other birds of prey really add the wow factor. The cottage is full of charm with an old world feel. It’s been very smartly renovated and decorated and is in great condition. We loved the farmhouse style kitchen which is open to a comfortable living room with high ceilings. The built in beds are beautifully done and although on the small side we enjoyed the authentic touch. The wood stoves on each end of the cottage work well to add extra warmth in the evenings. Ross was a gracious host. The place was with fresh flowers and a basket of fresh goods from the farm. He even had the fire started for the hot tub.

Our extended family have just had the pleasure of staying here for a long weekend. It provided a peaceful location for us all to unwind without any disturbance. The property was lovely and it is nice to see hosts invest in their property. Having stayed in many Airbnb's around the world, they are often lacking basic implements or only buying cheap crockery. If you are after a relaxing get away for your family then place this location on your wish list.

We visit Scotland every year and we’ve stayed in some wonderful places over the last 21 years. Gale’s place is definitely one of our top three favourites! Goodness - it is impeccably furnished, comfortable and wonderfully spacious. We absolutely loved the evenings by the fire, the bright and airy conservatory, the comfortable kitchen, extremely generous bedrooms and table tennis. We will most definitely be back if they’ll have us!

Spent a great week here with family, and we all felt at home. The property feels nice and secluded but is only a 10 minute drive from everything you need. loads of options for days out with or without kids and walks within reasonable driving distance. Bea was always easy to contact and very nice to communicate with if needed. highly recommend

We had a magical stay at the cottage! The pictures don’t do justice to it and we highly recommend getting better pictures. We got very lucky with the weather, saw sun, rainbow and snowfall! The place is also aptly located for northern lights sightings. We got amazing sightings from the cottage on two nights. The Aga kitchen is 5 stars in itself! We loved bringing in new years at the cottage with our little baby. The cot and high chair were both super helpful. Thank you Jennifer for being so responsive and helping our stay.

We booked the cottage as a last minute getaway- Hannah was able to accommodate this so kindly and happily! The cottage was so beautiful on the inside and the views outside were stunning! We visited with our little boy- Hannah had prepared a travel cot for him and there was lots of toys and books available for him too! But also good safety features like baby gates and fire guards! The beds were really comfy and the property was cosy and welcoming! The welcome book had lots of suggestions of things to see/do and places to eat! Hannah was a very communicative host too! We would stay again and have already recommended to friends! Thank you!

Great stay in a beautiful cottage, so well equipped and very comfortable in a quiet area. Lovely place so close to the beach my grandson loved it as well. Recommend the Cullen Skink soup at Lily’s Cafe, very tasty

An excellent location for those looking to get away from it all yet within walking distance to Tomintoul. The well kitted out kitchen means you cam cook a feast with ease and the log burning stoves give it a real cosy feel. Would highly recommend

Judith and Mark were awesome communicators. They were there to welcome us and answer any questions we had. The cottage was immaculate and the amenities were very nice. Parking was super easy, which is not always the case in Scotland! The cottage was adorable and had everything we needed. They provided coffee, tea and milk, which was an added bonus. Sitting on the back porch, drinking coffee in the morning was so peaceful and quiet. What a great way to start the day. The grounds and scenery were beautiful too! The Co-op supermarket is a two minute walk and had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone. Definitely a 10/10 stay!

Peter is a very nice and friendly host, made us feel very welcome… was very helpful with everything, responded very quickly to our messages…such a nice and caring guy !!! We enjoyed our stay and we wished we could stay longer The cottage is very cosy and nicely decorated, makes you feel like you’re at home Jack the dog is soooo cute and friendly , such a happy playful boy …chickens are friendly too (they actually come so close that you can pet them ) Thank you very much Peter for having us !!! 5*
