Of 60 or so places we have stayed at Airbnb, this has been the best Airbnb experience we’ve had! Given that this is a special trip (our honeymoon, which we had not mentioned before showing up) we feel very fortunate indeed! Stewart was an absolutely phenomenal host. So thoughtful and kind. But not imposing or ‘ever present’; just enough for a nice chat when we bump into one another out in the garden, and for some wonderful home-baked treats :) Stewart’s advice about getting last-minute tickets to Maeshowe (just a few minutes down the lane) was spot on and was the only reason we were able to visit. The place is really relaxed and quiet, a place to really unwind. It is a perfect base for exploring these wonderful islands, centrally located with all that’s needed just a 10 minute drive or a short bike ride away. We will certainly be back for an anniversary, as this place holds a special place in our hearts.

If you are looking for somewhere to pause, breathe & smile then the Noddle is for you. A real opportunity to switch off & enjoy Island life. An eco friendly home with all mod cons if you need them but this is a real opportunity to step away. There’s one shop on the Island of Hoy which opens in the morning & afternoon about 30 minutes across the Island so do bring most of what you need as there are two fridges & a freezer. There is also a regular ferry service for Island hopping so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Karen’s place is fantastic and we would highly recommend it. It exceeded all expectation with so much attention to detail, lovely welcoming treats, ample information about local attractions., night sensor lights, the works. Very cosy and well equipped, very comfortable beds, great to all have our own rooms . Easy to walk down to town & have the car parked right out front for travels throughout Orkney. Well equipped kitchen to have choice for meals . Neighbours guinea pigs were cute & great outlook to sheep & golf course . Karen is very responsive & kind. We loved it . Thanks

Widefirth 2 was a very comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Lots of space, warm and cosy. Kitchen was well equipped and the welcome hamper with all local produce was very much appreciated. Lounge furnishings were very comfortable and there was good quality bed linen. The large enclosed garden was very much appreciated by our Bernese Mountain dog, who enjoyed exploring. There are spectacular views across the bay, however unfortunately due to the wet weather the paths were a little muddy and we didn’t get to explore the walks as much as we wanted to. Although Widefirth is a little off the beaten track, it is well signposted and is a good location for exploring the Island. Kirkwall was only a 15-20 minute drive and around 30-40 minutes drive to the Ferry terminal at St. Margaret’s Hope. Greig’s wife welcomed us and Greig came to ask how we enjoyed our stay before leaving. I would definitely recommend Widefirth to friends and family, and would definitely stay with them again

We absolutely loved our stay, the cottage was everything we wanted and looked for. Evelyn is a fantastic host and provides an amazing cottage to stay in. Immaculate, peaceful and the best location, only a few minutes from Stromness. We will be back.

The family and I had an amazing time staying with Martin. He is a lovely gentleman, super welcoming and a fantastic host. We had booked this stay as part of our NC500 trip and it was a decision well made. Couldn’t have asked for more. The apartment was spotless and a lot bigger than we had thought. There was no issue for room with the four of us. We felt well cared for to the point it felt we were staying with family. We would recommend Martin to anyone, defiantly would stay here again.

Doe Cottage was the ideal Orkney home-from-home for our honeymoon! Comfortable and refined space, authentically designed to feel immediately in our own cosy space. Ideal location to explore Mainland’s highlights as well as access to ferries to the other islands. Thanks to Sam and Lee’s helpful tips, we made the most out of every second of our stay. We hope to return some day!
