Borgo Fontanini is a special place owned and managed by special people. If you want pastoral, quiet and authentic please visit. Silvia, Pierre (and their handsome pooch, Spike) provide a magical retreat. Sylvia is an excellent host and Pierre a superb cook. They are incredibly response, flexible and generous. My one comment is this...you must appreciate the country.... rolling hills that require a bit of driving confidence...airy rooms, profound quiet, smoky fireplaces and wonderful, rich meals after long walks in the countryside or adventures in nearby Bologna. While Borgo Fontanini is an easy connection to the main roads and Bologna, etc. and Sivia and Pierre provide strong wifi please treat this as a recharging, supportive 'off-grid' experience. You'll have to talk, joke, eat (very well) and connect among yourselves. If you're willing to electronically disarm come here. Enjoy.

We enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was plentiful with some nice cakes, meats, and cheese. Secure parking and clean, comfortable beds were also appreciated.

We had a lovely stay at Eli & Pier’s. Given its strategic location of the castle it boasted an impressive 360 degree view down below and was beautiful inside and out. I’d highly recommend this stay for something different and a place where you can truely relax

Super romantische, gezellige unieke locatie. Wat een uitzicht! En heerlijk warm bij de kachel of in het bankje in de zon. We voelden ons onwijs rijk!

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit in der wunderschönen Villa, inmitten der Natur der Toskana. Gemma hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und über die Besonderheiten, des historischen Hauses informiert. Waschmaschine und Spülmaschine stehen zur Verfügung. In der Küche gibt es genügend Utensilien um vernünftig zu kochen. Es gibt 4 Badezimmer, davon 2 mit duschen. Nicht luxuriös, aber hygienisch. Die Zimmer sind groß, generell ist das Haus sehr geräumig. Die Betten könnten erneuert werden, sind aber auch nicht schlecht. Mückennetze wären klasse, damit man in der besonders heißen Saison abends besser lüften kann. Der Pool ist gepflegt und bietet die perfekte Abkühlung. Die Aufenthaltsräume sind groß. Billardtisch und Pool haben uns viel Freude bereitet. Umgebung: Florenz, Sienna und Bologna sind mit dem Auto gut für einen Tagestrip erreichbar. Schöne, anspruchsvolle Wanderrouten sind in der Nähe. Die Bahia Bar ist einen Besuch Wert. Die Zeit verging schnell. Danke für die schöne Zeit!

This was our favorite stay out of our 3 country European vacation! What a gem of a place! We were so comfortable in the house with plenty of room for our family to spread out. Highly recommend taking the cooking course with Pierre and Silvia. They were the bests hosts of all time. The views were spectacular and we could sit outside at night and hear the owls. We were so at peace. Do not pass up an opportunity to stay at Silvia's little piece of heaven.

The accommodation is simple, however, the friendliness of the town, views and uniqueness of staying in a castle were fabulous. Ludmila was a friendly and helpful host and we had a lovely comfortable stay. We recommend highly.

The property is secluded and absolutely beautiful. There’s a lot of space and it was so nice to stay with our group all together. The property manager was amazing - so friendly and tried to help me coordinate several activities in the area. She sent me a whole list of recommendations for activities when I booked and gave me alternatives when some of them were booked. One note - you absolutely need a car. For some reason my side of the page was missing that point in the description (airbnb error it seems). Giulia was amazing with that hiccup though - she looked up so many options for transportation for us and was really flexible on the times to get there and leave.
