This is a lovely place to stay and very close to the ski resort which made it nice for our trip. The home was as described and we loved the backyard view with periodically dear sightings.

We had a great stay at Barbara’s home. We were there over the week of Christmas and Barbara had a tree and decorations. We appreciated it so much. The house looked very festive. The house is big! We had lots of space to spread out. The hot tub was well used as well as the games and tables in the basement. The area around the house is beautiful and Barbara gave us a tour of their sheep farm and invited us to walk around the property. We did that and enjoyed our walk along the creek to the river. If you are looking for a peaceful place for a group, this will suit you and Barbara is a wonderful host.

Susan’s farm house was perfect for enjoying a relaxing getaway with plenty of space for multiple families and kids. All of the spices are very large and honestly it’s better in person than in the pictures. We would recommend it to anyone and return again! The kitchen was nicely stocked with everything you could need. And it was great being right on the winery.

This was an excellent retreat, the house and location are stunning and provide a plethora of things to do. With the ski resort right down the road, this is the perfect place to relax and get ready for a day of snowboarding. Jeff was incredibly communicative, giving us heads ups throughout our stay on when cleaning would occur, and ensuring the place stayed nice for the next guests. Really couldn’t reccomend it enough!

We stayed at this charming home during our recent family ski break. The home is extremely clean and exactly as pictured. Jo was very friendly, helpful and responsive. We loved the location. It is a few minute drive to base camp and walkable to the playground (huge plus with our kids). Each evening we could see deer just a few yards away. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to anyone considering this house.

Place was lovely and exactly as listed. Spacious , great views, clean and lots of DVDs and board games. Highly recommend staying here!

Such a great place to stay. We had the best day on the mountain and it was so nice that the house was only 5mins away. We had a blast staying here. It was so nice having a fully stocked kitchen so we could cook family meals. The beds are all very comfortable as well. The arcade was fun.

Loved the house - just beautiful with lots to do - pool, hot tub, fire pit, ping pong table, foosball table, darts, piano... Herb met us at the house and walked us around showing all the amenities. Herb followed up when I left to make sure all was well.

This home is so charming, dripping in history, tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you need. It feels so off the beaten path but Charlottesville is within easy reach. You feel a real sense of peacefulness and calm here, and Virginia is a very responsive host.

Our family had such a nice stay at the Bungalow in Elkton. We were in search of a peaceful and cozy accommodation that would put us close to Massanutten and Harrisonburg, but with more of a “cabin” feel. We also wanted to get to DC for a day trip and felt like Elkton was a good location to accomplish all our goals. The Bungalow was nestled in the rolling hills and the river and property were beautifully tucked back from any hustle and bustle. The home was cozy and sparkling clean, newly renovated and just perfect. Before we left my husband walked around the house and took pictures of all the little updates I loved for inspiration for our own home (adorable tile in the bathroom, really cool fixtures, a smart and well designed kitchen, etc.) The kitchen was very well equipped, I made homemade meals and baked during our stay with no problem, and we all were very comfortable and felt safe and truly “away.” We would recommend the Bungalow to anyone and can’t wait to return!

House was really great! Very spacious kitchen area with everything you could possibly need! Spacious backyard with a fire pit was perfect for the kids to run around and hang out. Overall the house was clean and neat, would definitely recommend!

The house was beautiful and spacious for our group of 9. A lot of natural light and space for us to get cozy all together. The space was clean and well stocked with things that we would need for the weekend. The hosts were amazing, they left us with a binder with information about the property and a list of local shops we could check out. We checked out one of their recommendations, The Local, the food was amazing. They also left a personalized note which was very much appreciated. Our only concern was that property itself is very dark at night and at the end of a dark road that wasn’t paved very well. Additionally, all the windows in the house were unlocked including most of the bedroom windows which we had to lock manually. Outside of that, however, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely rebook. Thank you Judy for making our weekend so memorable :)

My family and I very much enjoyed our weekend stay at the Cypress House. It is conveniently located just a half hour from Harrisonburg and James Madison University, its close to the Massanutten resort area, and close to the Luray caverns. Pet friendly was a plus for us and there is a large yard for you and the pet to enjoy. The house itself is charming with hardwood floors throughout. Main bathroom with tub and shower is located on the second floor. The kitchen has modern appliances and has a Keurig to use as well. Parking for about 3 or 4 cars should you need it. Host was very communicative and the overall process was very smooth. I would definitely look to stay here again, especially if I were looking to take advantage of all of the outdoor offerings in the area. Also a great option for JMU families during those busy weekends!

It felt like home! This cute little rancher has so much character and charm. The location and views only bring more peace to its tranquility. Lots to do or nothing at all, it is entirely up to the guest. Tracy provides suggestions from tourists attractions to local dives. Think you forgot something and need it, no worries! As the crow flies has it all. A fully stocked kitchen with coffee maker, kitchen mixer, and china if you like. Tracey’s attention to detail is highly evident as she welcomes you into a home and provides you with a place that is as close to home as it could get. Thanks so much for the hospitality! We will most definitely be booking another stay at As the Crow Flies!

Great value! Wonderful place for a visit to the area with friends!

Our family rented Joseph's Place for a weekend when we were in the area for a wedding at Early Mountain Vineyard Madison Virginia. I can not say enough good things about the house or the host. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood and has a great layout for sharing meals and socializing. It was an easy 15 to 20 minute drive to the vineyard. The beds and all of the furniture in the house are really comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and a perfect gathering place. Joe provided us with information concerning walking trails in the neighborhood ,as well as, great hiking trails within a short drive. He told us about restaurants in the area which we would have tried had we stayed longer. We ate our meals at the house. Downtown Charlottesville is an easy maybe 20 mile drive from the house. Joe is a very responsive host. This is a fabulous place to stay. There is parking for 4 cars in the driveway. We did not have one complaint about our stay. It was perfect.

Angela is a wonderful host and very responsive if you need help. The Franklin Estate is maintained well and is clean and comfortable. We would stay again if back this way. Thank you Angela.

So much space! The home was exactly as pictured. We loved cooking in the well stocked kitchen, it has everything you’ll need. The great room was very cozy for movie night and longing around. The ridge views were beautiful. I hope it’s available on our next trip.

The place was beautiful! Inside and out. So peaceful and surreal. There’s a fire pit perfectly placed looking over the mountains, plenty of space indoors, and an easy route to a little shopping center that has all you need. The only thing to mention is that you will need to drive the trash to a location about 4 miles away, but other than that everything was quite literally perfect.

We absolutely loved our stay at Idyllwood Cabin and would return in a heartbeat! The property is stunning, and the cabin itself is incredibly cute and cozy. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor space, even though it was a bit too chilly to fully utilize it during our visit. The hot tub was a fantastic perk – clean, well-maintained, and perfect for relaxing. The house was exceptionally well-stocked, from kitchen essentials and pantry items to ample bathroom supplies. The only thing we feel future guests should be aware of is the abundance of bugs, specifically ladybugs and stink bugs. Being in the woods, we expected some, but the sheer number of ladybugs was quite surprising. Despite the bugs, our experience at Idyllwood Cabin was overwhelmingly positive. It's a beautiful, tranquil retreat, and we highly recommend it for anyone looking to escape and relax!

Overall, a nice place, well appointed. We enjoyed the on property hiking trail. It was nice to be relatively close to Charlottesville and hiking. The host was extremely responsive to our questions. We did have some noisy upstairs guests as others have experienced. We turned on the sauna with the intent to use it, but did not budget enough time for it to get up to temperature. It likely requires several hours. There was plenty of room for parking. We did not hear any traffic noise. Even on Sunday, the church next door was quiet. We enjoyed the fireplace. Having wood available was a nice touch.

My fiancé and I came here to have easy access to Shenandoah National Park. We got that and more! We had a lovely stay with Julie! The accommodations were excellent! Everything matched the pictures in the listing and it was very comfy and cozy. We liked all the little touches that she added to make our stay more inviting and her communication went above and beyond. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be looking to come here!

We stayed here (2 couples) over Presidents Day weekend. The place is lovely, very well set up for 2 couples to share. The furnishings are so pretty and there is lots of space. Everything you need in the kitchen as well. Very comfortable beds and linens and nice fluffy towels. Even the throw blankets were soft and cozy. The river is so peaceful right next to the deck. Kim was super helpful and communicated everything we needed to know and was very responsive throughout. We greatly appreciated her flexibility with check in and the welcoming and thoughtful touches when we arrived. We felt pampered and it set the stage for a great weekend. The house is about equal distance from both Shenandoah National Park where we spent some time hiking and Charlottesville where we spent a rainy day exploring when we couldn’t do outside things. All in all a lovely and comfortable stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Thanks for having us Kim!
