Very nice and responsive host, the house is spacious for a family and the views of the night sky is very beautiful too!

Our weeklong stay was magical! As other reviewers have said, the outdoor space exceeds expectations. You can see the ocean (and occasionally whales!) while you relax on the lanai. The outdoor furniture is comfortable, with options for shade or sun. We were outside nearly the entire week. The king bed was very nice & the AC for sleeping kept us cool. The cottage is a 3 minute walk to sunset point (nightly!) or Manini Beach, a 10 minute drive to 2-step, or a 20-minute walk to Kaai Beach. Kayak rentals are around the corner. Twice we kayaked to Captain Cook (20-25 minutes) to snorkel-saw amazing fish, octopus, eel, and dolphins. Excellent local restaurants & a grocery store for essentials are up the hill (15-20 minutes). There are no coffee shops or restaurants within walking distance, which we knew & appreciated. If you are looking to unplug & get in the water, it’s perfect. Rusty & Janice are lovely hosts.

For me personally, Maria’s place rates right at the top of all the places I’ve stayed at using Airbnb (and certainly well above any hotel stay). If you are looking for a place that is just far enough away from Kona to allow for a bit of calm, you should book Maria’s place without hesitation. It was a short albeit steep walk to Pebble Beach. We ventured out easily to Milolii, Green Sand beach (do that one early!), Hookena and Two Step beaches as well as Kona, Kealakekua, and Captain Cook. We very much enjoyed the space and it was definitely more than I thought it would be. More than that though, Maria was always approachable, responsive immediately, and a pleasure to get to know.

We stayed just one quick night here after landing on the island. It was a great little space. Very clean, seemed brand new, convenient to town, and you could see the ocean from the cute front porch. The bed was very soft, like a cloud you melted into. Normally I don't like soft beds but this one was nice. It is a stand alone space but wasn't quite as private/secluded as I thought. In case someone wanted more privacy, but it wasn't an issue for us. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We loved Robert's place. It is located in a quiet neighborhood on the hills (about 1200 feet elevation), straight up from the airport. It is a great location to explore the island - 10-15 minute drive to Kailua-Kona town (store & restaurants); the beaches to the north of Kona are easy to reach (I think the closest one we drove to was about 15-20 minutes); great coffee farm to visit about 10 minute drive away (Mountain Thunder), two hours to Volcano National Park (we did a day trip) and slightly less than two hour drive to the Green Sand Beach hike. Robert and Fran live upstairs. They are super friendly and ready to help, but let you do your own thing. The house is well-equipped and Robert has beach supplies that he shared with us. Great ocean and sunset view too. No AC but the temp felt just right given the elevation. We would love to go back!

A nice rural experience, very peaceful and comfortable!

We were travel weary after a missed flight and long wait at the airport, arriving to the treehouse was stepping into a peaceful paradise. Surrounded by lush, tropical foliage and birdsong, we couldn't have asked for a more calming setting. Keiko met us and gave us a tour of all the amenities, she was warm and welcoming which helped us feel at home. The location was great and we were a quick drive to all the things a human could need. Keiko's dinner recommendation was superb and we came back to rest our weary bones in a comfortable bed with an immersion in the night sounds of frogs. We woke to birdsong and a spectacular view of the Pacific. The treehouse ticked all of our boxes: nature, wildlife, peace, proximity to restaurants/beaches/snorkeling/shopping, privacy and comfort. It was an absolute joy to stay in this treehouse and it's a space that is truly loved. Keiko and James are exemplify what it means to 'host'. Oh, and the coffee was out of this world, really the best on the planet

Welcoming and friendly on-site hosts, nice open air kitchen and dining area for meals, central location for west side of island, and a place that now feels like an island home away from home.

Lovely place! Everything was so nice, clean and pretty. Na Na was very thoughtful. Highly recommend! I hope to stay here again.

Perfect little home away from home. We stayed for a week & the cottage had everything we needed. Nice peaceful location, comfortable, & clean. Matched the description & pictures. Would definitely stay there again if we are fortunate enough to return to Hawaii.

helpful host and nice house. Everything is perfect except for some cockroaches intruders. Highly recommended for those who love immersive experience in nature but also want to be close to amenities like restaurants and stores.

Lovely little place with beautiful surroundings. Older than appears in pictures but very clean. Very limited space to cook and fridge is quite small but there is a bbq and outdoor seating which was great. Hosts were friendly, attentive and always responsive. The pool is lovely and the nearby bay is close walking distance . The hosts live on the property full time and work from home so they are present and around most of the time. They were very respectful and were not nosy in the least but something to be aware of. Their cat and dog are wonderful and will visit you if desired.

The view is incredible. It’s a few degrees cooler than Kailua-Kona so it is more comfortable. Michael and Amanda are great hosts and the most enjoyable to talk with. The French Press was a unique touch that shows they go above and beyond to provide a peaceful relaxing environment.

We felt right at home at Viktor & Julie's place, which was perfect for the three of us. The home was very comfortable and equipped with all the amenities we needed, plus a thoughtful touch with complimentary fresh fruit upon arrival. The BBQ and backyard were fantastic, offering a stunning view of the ocean sunset. The location was great, with a short drive to a beautiful beach for snorkeling and close proximity to the Captain Cook monument. A rental car is essential, but the drive to Kona, the green sand beach, black sand beach, and Volcano National Park was relatively short and scenic. The family was friendly and respectful of our privacy. After our original lodging fell through, we made last-minute reservations, and this was my favorite spot. Would definitely stay again!

Very nice. Beach is within walking distance. Cafe just up the street for breakfast. Home is very well equipped if you choose to cook.

Joe has made sure that his space offers an impeccable slice of paradise and is great value for the luxury on offer. When you're in the garden by the pools you really feel like you have a little resort all to yourself. The sunsets from the front lawn and living room are incredible. The house had everything that we needed as well as extra beach/pool/snorkeling equipment that we weren't expecting. Joe also provided a high chair and crib for our baby which were both of great quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.

A quiet, cool spot to get away from the crowds and beach area. We enjoyed the temp drop when you climb in elevation to the house. The area seemed very safe and I never worried about theft or trouble. Nice area with nice people around the house. You will be about 20 minutes from Costco and are at a central starting point to go north or south. We didn't spend a whole lot of time at the house other than to sleep and be out enjoying the Big Island.

Heather was a fabulous host! We loved staying at her place. We have been to Hawaii (the Big Island) several times before, and this time, we chose to stay away from the crowds and on her working farm. The space had everything we needed. Heather was nice enough to leave fresh fruit for us every couple of days and we bought fresh eggs from her. We made breakfast in the kitchen every morning and enjoyed it out on the lanai overlooking the farm and the ocean in the distance. The noises we normally hear in the city were replaced by beautiful coqui frogs at night and goat, sheep, chickens and turkeys during the day. The view of the stars with almost zero light pollution make this a "go to" location for any star gazers. Heather also provided beach gear, including folding chairs and all the gear needed for snorkeling. The space was very clean and we would love to stay there again in the future. We have been to Kona many times. This is one of the best places we've stayed at. Ellen reached out before we arrived to see if there was anything we needed. When we arrived, she was literally waiting on the street to make sure we could access the driveway. Everything we needed and then some was waiting for us inside their very spacious apartment. We loved watching the sunset from the lanai, the full kitchen, and walking the neighborhood trail Ellen recommended. Ellen was very easy to reach by text and gave excellent recommendations on places to go and things to do. Thank you, Ellen and Bob, for a great visit!

We had such a wonderful stay at Caleb and Christyn’s place. It was a wonderful neighborhood filled with turkeys and pheasants and chickens along w some kitties and pups. The view of the ocean. And sunset is great. It was so nice to have a washer and dryer. They were very responsive to any questions we had. It truly felt like a home away from home. Mahalo!
