Alojamientos vacacionales en Lake Baringo

We stayed two nights at the chalet to go birding in the Lake Baringo area. Safe and tranquil spot with lots of birds, including a hornbill that visited our house both mornings that we were there. Kitchen is well-equipped but keep in mind that in Kenya it is common to have refrigerators unplugged until guests arrive so maybe don’t bring a ton of items that need to be refrigerated (we brought some and it was fine but we didn’t load up the fridge). The host would probably be happy to plug in the fridge if you communicate in advance that you will need it right away. The chalet was very clean, but living in the desert there will always be insects so be prepared for a couple harmless common wall spiders and a couple of their friends. There were mosquito nets for both beds. WiFi was excellent. Hot showers! The hosts will offer to arrange tours for you when you arrive which is nice but we politely declined this time. All in all the chalet was a great place for a self-drive birding stop.

We stayed 4 nights at Mukinduri (The 2 bedroom cottage on Frankie's property. She also has a 1 bedroom cottage). The property is set back about 1 km from the lake, but you can walk to the lake. The two bedroom cottage is basic, but beautiful and tastefully furnished. We spent most of our time on the lovely balcony, watching birds and Braaiing. Frankie's property is magical with a huge beautiful garden and a cute little game viewing deck. We saw Giraffe, Zebra, Warthog, Buffalo and many different buck. However, the outstanding feature of the property is the bird life. I identified 60 birds in the 4 days we were there. Many of them spotted while lying on the balcony. Frankie was an attentive and welcoming host, providing all we needed and trouble shooting quickly when problems arose. Thanks Frankie for a very relaxing stay!
