Good house in a walkable neighborhood - live music and a few restaurants right around the corner

Diana was extremely responsive to all of our questions. The house was in a safe area with blinds and blackout curtains to provide added privacy. The well-maintained house was comfortable and close enough to the park and beach for daily walks with our dog. The home even provided supplies like crate and waste bags for your pet. The noise from the busy street was not even noticeable inside the home. We have heard train noise in all homes where we have stayed (even our family) over the years - it’s just a given in the area. This home has the best insulation and I only noticed the train twice while sleeping. The heat works great and we even set the thermostat 5 degrees lower than we keep it at home. We plan to make this our first choice for future visits.

We are 5-star Airbnb hosts ourselves and have very high standards and Cathy's Chippewahoo met or exceeded them all. Where do I start? First of all, spotlessly clean. Second, Cathy has thought of EVERYTHING anyone might need - I especially appreciated the Kleenex in nearly every room - it's amazing how many Airbnbs do not supply ANY Kleenex! Fully stocked kitchen and also bathroom. Comfy beds and lots of extra bedding. Since it's winter, we didn't get to take advantage of the lake but I did see that Cathy has supplied coolers, towels and everything one might need for a day at the beach. The decor is charming, the furniture is ever-so-comfy and high quality. We need to return in summer so we can take advantage of the cute porch/deck and fire pit. It was so quiet and peaceful there, even though in a neighborhood with close neighbors. Truly a 5-star experience.

This place is perfect to catch a break! Plenty of land right next to the traintracks, very few stores or restaurants nearby, it truly is a “you, me & the breeze” type of place. My pups absolutely loved the freedom & room they had. I was able to unplug & unwind.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and cozy. We appreciated that the house was stocked with many common forgotten items and had all the comforts of home. It is very close to the lake and the town of Vermillion which is so charming. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to the area.

The home is beautifully designed with a well-thought-out layout, making it both spacious and inviting. Every detail has been carefully curated to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The space was immaculately clean, and the beds were incredibly cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep for everyone in our group. The kitchen and sitting area were standout features—modern, well-equipped, and perfect for gathering, playing games, and enjoying quality time together. The only downside was the icy driveway upon arrival. My husband actually spent about an hour breaking up ice before the ladies arrived, and putting down salt to ensure we didn’t fall. While we appreciate the host mentioning the weather and the possibility of ice, it would have been helpful if the driveway was cleared.

This house is cute and clean and a good location just a few blocks from campus and close to downtown. We would consider staying there again. There are a few things that could be tweaked to make it a better stay for groups larger than two people. There are two bathrooms upstairs that are across from each other and down the hall from the bedrooms. Our kids said that the bathroom with the shower worked well. The shower with the bath shower combination did not work as well. It fluctuated between scalding and freezing and did not receive any warm water if any other fixture in the house was running. If the water could be working in both showers at the same time it would make the home more comfortable for a group of more than two. We were there during a very cold ice storm and we had trouble with the heat. We arrived late and the house was very cold. We let the owner know the next morning and they were very responsive.

Stayed at this cute apartment on a friends’ trip! The space had all of the basics you needed to live and cook. The early Spring views of Lake Erie were beautiful as we got to enjoy some warmer March weather on the deck and even witness a thunderstorm from the living room. Unobstructed views from the living room upstairs and both bedrooms downstairs really made our stay in the Lorain/Vermilion area special. The Airbnb was easy to access and located near many activities. Photos and instructions from Gjergji were accurate and very clear.

We came to Ohio for the birth of our son and stayed in the apartement for six weeks. During all this time, Chris and Jim made sure, that their venue was our "home away from home"! They were extremely welcoming and supportive, be it with equipment we needed for the baby, like a crip with changing table, or with tips what to do in the area. They fully respected our privacy, but at the same time were very interested and supportive towards our journey and our story. They were always open for a quick chat or a good longer tallk. So, after leaving back to our "normal" home, we really feel we found new friends overseas! The apartment is large and well-equipped and exactly as we expected it to be from the description and the pictures. Amherst is a very small town, but has a very nice center with a good variety of restaurants, bars/breweries and cafés. All of that is within walking distance. We hope there will be a next time and alread are looking forward to it!

Laura was great to communicate with. We were in town to visit the College and Laura gave us local recommendations. Really sweet house. The sofa bed was very comfortable (not always the case!). I would most definitely stay here again. kate

What was originally a "had to find a place for the night close to where we had to be" kind of situation turned into a very enjoyable stay, great place, great communication, good beds, lots of space and great surroundings even though it was very cold that day. Outside: inside was just right :) We even got to see a young eagle perched right outside our windows, thanks to Di who texted us to have a look! Very enjoyable stay, thanks a lot!

This place was simple, affordable, and perfect. It’s not snazzy, but it’s clean and comfortable, and it’s a GREAT place from which to be able to walk to everything in town. Plus, the host was fantastic—responses were quick and really helpful. We’ll definitely be back.

Our stay at Kelly's place was wonderful. It was an oasis of peace in a crazy world. Fantastic view of Lake Erie out the back. We saw eagles from our seats she placed at the end of the yard for us, and one night we got to view the Northern Lights! Despite being quiet and private it's a short trip in either direction to cute shops, and great restaurants. Kelly is hands down the friendliest host we've ever had with an Airbnb. Highly recommended!

We are Oberlin alumni visiting our professors, and this stay has been absolutely wonderful. Linda is incredibly kind, communicative, and understanding. The accommodation feels warm and home-like—we will definitely be back!
