A perfect place for a cozy stay near the beach - loved it. The outdoor bath and BBQ are incredible, and only a minute’s walk to the shoreline!

Ths was one of the best places I have stayed. The cleanliness was next level and all the extras supplied with fresh home made bread and other goodies in the fridge.... Our privacy was absolutely respected even though their home was not far away. I would definitely come here again whenever I want some time out. Very well done to these hosts.!!!

Das 'Blockhaus' war super gemütlich, geschmackvoll und praktisch eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Die sternenklaren Nächte auf der Terrasse waren traumhaft und morgens wurden wir von den Pferden oder der Katze begrüßt. Ein wunderschöner Platz um zu entspannen und zu genießen. This really is a unique retreat! It was an amazing short getaway where we were able to relax in a truly beautiful place. I loved how cosy the cottage was and stepping outside in the evening under a moonlight sky and solar lights was truly magical! So pleased we booked this place!

got to spend a couple of nights here for our Tongariro Alpine Crossing hike! Great location, just a few minutes away for restaurants but yet peaceful and quiet. The spa was very nice after the long hike!

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to do the Tongariro crossing. Good space with a full kitchen and comfy furniture. National park is not very big so it's a 2 minute walk to the bar/restaurant/shop. Great base for activities. highly recommend.

Great place to stay. Clean, beautiful views and felt secluded. We did the tongariro crossing and the place was perfect for it but also good if you want to explore taupo. 10/10 would recommend

A little slice of paradise for those seeking to unplug from the world (not literally as there's still wifi)! Our family of 5 loved staying at Cara's place. Well equipped kitchen (including a proper coffee machine), great shower pressure and the kids loved using the kayaks and jumping on the trampoline. The sunrise and moon rise from the deck is stunning. Just stock up before arrival (no shops in the village) and it's the perfect family holiday.

If you’re looking for a peaceful place with no restrictions, this is it! Do whatever you want—no rules, no stress. It’s nothing flashy, but if you just want a no-man’s-land kind of spot, it’s perfect. Great for families, especially if you’ve got a spoiled kid who needs space to run wild!

Had an amazing time. Really enjoyed the easy access to the Tararuas, the fire pit and the hot showers! It was the perfect setting to catch up with some old friends.

A great place to stay in National Park! It was homey, comfortable, and removed from the rest of the town enough to feel some separation, but close enough to walk anywhere. If you are looking to hike or ski in or around Tongariro, this is a great place to do it from.

Awesome place to stay.. we had a fantastic week of rest and relax, with the most lovely, well supplied, clean, tidy and above any BnB place that we've stayed in before. the hosts Robyn & Peter were fab, super friendly and accommodating to anthing i asked.. Sadly they had a bother with the internet, bit it didn't worry us, and they tried their best to fix it... I couldn't recommend it more highly- & thank you for sharing it with us. wish we had found it earlier on our Palmerston North stays... would definitely book again if we go back... 5 star 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Kirsty’s place was exactly what we needed for our trip away. Kirsty was lovely and was so helpful and presented Rakau’s Rest very well. We enjoyed chatting with her and she made us so welcome. Highly recommended if you need somewhere to stay and relax for a few days away from it all.
