The Riverhouse was so nice and cozy! Loved how close it was to the river - view out of the front was all river and the view out of the back still had the mountains, it was lovely. Scot was super responsive to any questions and so personable! If you want a cozy little getaway with friends/family, this is definitely a good pick for you!

Our favorite part of the cabin were all of the details throughout. The mix of slate, natural stone, and woodwork made us feel like we were in a storybook cottage. It was the perfect place for the family to spend time by the fire between ski days. The driveway was challeging for our vehicles but we made it work

Sharon’s home was peaceful, quiet, private, and beautiful. Need I mention spacious? We didn’t realize there were two bedrooms with queen beds, plus a children’s room with bunk beds. The deck had a wonderful view of the valley and hills beyond it through the trees, the kitchen was well-stocked and fun to cook in, the furniture was stylish but comfy, and the bathrooms were spacious and pristine. Truly a wonderful space!! We drove in two cars: one with AWD and one without. Neither of us had trouble getting up and down the hill despite some ice/snow on the bend. The driveway is somewhat steep but not more than 1/4 mile long and looked walkable if needed. We were intimidated by the other reviews but found it far less intimidating in person. We recommend bringing your own wood for the fireplace/hot tub as a back up in case the wood provided doesn’t start. There are no neighbors visible from the property. We were delighted to have such a private and quiet space to relax in!

The view sales this place all by its self. Listening to the river and watching the sunrise on the water was so relaxing and peaceful. With no internet and no distractions it’s definitely a great place to go to calm the noise in your mind. The kitchen was large. Plenty of dishes and cooking accessories. Pots, pans, even casserole dishes. They did have knifes. Read none were available so they have stocked with that and scissors which we used. We did bring a carbon monoxide detector as suggested in the listing. The fireplace is beautiful. We did not use the hot tub but it was clean and hot. The chairs on the porch were in great condition and nice to have morning coffee and watch the sunrise rise. Loved our stay. Will definitely return.

Was a really great spot to get away and be in the mountains! The house has a great layout and an awesome screened porch and deck overlooking the mountains. Extremely relaxing and quiet spot. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and enjoyed the fire pit as well. It is definitely private but it isn’t completely secluded. There is a house down the hill about 250 yards away and another house up the hill prob 250 yards away too. We only saw a few cars go up that road during the 2 days we were there so it is definitely still private, quiet, and in nature. But if complete seclusion is what you are needing, there are some other homes in sight. We really loved the home though and would definitely book again. Thanks for the great getaway, Derek!

The Tiny house in the woods was just what we needed to unwind from the daily grind. Rich and Brittany were very accommodating and responsive hosts. Very private and peaceful setting. Love the pet friendly policy. Thanks again, and would definitely return!

The only part of the stay that didn't get 5 stars was that it wasn't quite as secluded as I'd hoped for. There are a number of homes on the road to the cabin, and a thin line of trees breaks the view. Admittedly unless you're looking for the other houses you don't notice them, so I got past that quickly enough. That said, the cabin was perfect, clean, cozy and everything worked as stated. Having grown up in the country, but living in a city now, I felt the stress melt away as soon as I stepped into the massive yard where my son and I spent a lot of time playing soccer and other sports. My son and wife really enjoyed the hot tub. The location is 15 minutes away from Luray which meant that the stars were amazing for the brief break in the clouds we got, but that it was close enough to get groceries and take out as needed. Plus it's about 20 minutes away from Front Royal so there are places to go and enjoy like Skyline or Luray Caverns. Jackie was a great and responsive host!

We had a lovely mini-moon stay!! We enjoyed relaxing, using the wood burning stove and the grill and jacuzzi. Would love to come back in the future. The road up to the house was a little sketchy but we got used to it after the second go around! Definitely recommend it especially the view! So beautiful.

This cabin is perfect! I had a very peaceful personal retreat recently and I hope to do it again! The decor is so aesthetic and so cozy! I lit fires in the wood stove after my evening bubble bath- which was thoughtfully supplied by the hosts. I had everything I needed and more to relax. The cabin feels isolated but also I felt very safe as a solo woman.

We recently spent three nights at this charming lake house, and I can confidently say it was one of the best family getaways we've ever experienced! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the warm, authentic character of the home. It truly felt like an old-school Airbnb, with so much personality and charm. The amenities were excellent, providing everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy for us to prepare meals together as a family. We loved gathering in the cozy living areas, sharing stories and laughter. The views were simply breathtaking! Waking up to the tranquil sight of the lake and enjoying sunsets from the porch was a highlight of our trip. It was the perfect backdrop for some quality family time. Overall, I highly recommend this lake house for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with loved ones. We left with wonderful memories and can't wait to return during the summer.

We have been to a number of rentals, both Airbnb and others, both in the U.S. and abroad. Walnut Run Farm is BY FAR the warmest, most welcoming, most perfect rental we have ever been to. If the property were for sale we would buy it in a minute, even as we much hope John will continue to keep and care for it for many years as the treasure it is. In renting John's home (and it is absolutely and in every sense a home), you have the chance to live in an extraordinary country house on a large, beautiful piece of idyllic Virginia Piedmont farmland. If you can score a rental at Walnut Run Farm, grab it.

This was the perfect place to stay while we toured John Madison’s home Montpelier. It was also convenient to the Barboursville vineyards where we went for a tasting. It was very comfortable for us 3 adults with an equipped kitchen for us to enjoy breakfast and a dinner. There’s a lot to do in the area so we may return to this lovely cottage.

Grateful for this quiet upstairs space for a get away around a meditation day retreat in the area. Comfy bed, delish tea and snacks provided, great shower, too. Communication was timely and helpful. Unfortunately I had to leave a night early due to approaching winter storm and I appreciated the refund. If staying in winter, consider bringing a pair of slippers to walk on tile floor in the entry way.

Perfect getaway for some R&R! My husband, labrador, Nash and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this sweet cabin. The wood burning fireplace was lovely and they had plenty of firewood for our use. About a 30 minute drive to Lost River State Park. We stopped at Lost & Found Pizza and Provisions for lunch after our hike, highly recommend their wood fired pizza, dog friendly establishment with a great vibe! We’re looking to going back this Fall.

my wife and I had an absolutely majestic stay here. We enjoyed our coffee out on the deck each morning surrounded by nature with the morning mist all around us. It felt like a dream! the kitchen had everything we needed and it was over all beyond our expectations! So cozy we didn't want to leave and we are already planning to stay again!

A wonderful location on the edge of the small town of Bridgewater, within easy driving to a variety places to walk, eat, experience outdoor activities and downtown shops. Brad, Stacey and Zane were available if needed and offered to make sure the room was cleaned and resupplied several times during our four-week stay. The layout of the room was practical and efficient for the time spent there. We encountered no issues and felt all we needed for living there was available in the living space. We felt comfortable, safe, welcomed and peaceful at the edge of farm land and the beginning of the town. Overall, a great, positive experience, and we would return for another visit.

San was a great host. Quick to answer questions and a great help whenever we needed him!!

wonderful stay! it was the perfect size space for 4 people! I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing some of the food they sell, it was AMAZING!!! If you are looking for a bit more room/privacy, would suggest booking one of the yurts. Host was extremely thorough with instructions (was a bit overwhelmed initially haha, but instructions were very helpful). My family and I would absolutely come back!! :)
