Nestled amid pristine forests overlooking a scenic river valley and terrace farms of the Mawwan villagers, this cottage is a perfect retreat for travellers who are willing to forego some modern day comforts to spend time in the lap of nature - hiking and exploring. It, of course, has all necessary amenities like geyser, electric kettle, running water etc. Some small touches to the cottage like the windchime, a bohemian style tiny living room and chairs to lounge outside have added to its charm. It is remote, so not many eat out options available. There is a restaurant from where simple meals can be ordered. It's always better to carry some light and non-perishable food. The caretakers stay in the vicinity, yet the cottage appears secluded - peaceful and private. Plus, the sunrises and the evenings are an absolute treat. It's a thrilling, relaxing, romantic getaway all in one.

Our family's favorite spot was the sunroom, which bathes in golden morning sunlight—perfect for long, heartfelt conversations over tea. The location is incredibly convenient, making our stay even more seamless. Our host was prompt and attentive, and the caretaker, Rabha, was an absolute gem—kind, ever-helpful, and always ensuring we had everything we needed. His warm hospitality made our experience even more special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return for another visit!

Suzan and Kmen are the sweetest hosts I have ever met. Their hospitality is top-notch, in fact they went overboard in helping us. We were just two females, and they made sure we are safe even when we are with the driver. They arranged a cab and guided us beautiful places. They sat with us for a lovely chat inspite of being tired after a whole day. The property is beautiful and very much safe for anyone who thinks North east is a new territory for them. We are a family with 2 kids visiting Shillong for the first time from Mumbai. The host Madhumita was responsive even before we did our booking. The place was as described and we had a pleasant stay. There was a dog named Bruno 🐶 who is very friendly and big and loves to be cuddled. Restaurants are walking distance from the place. It's like being at home away from home . The Longwood Residency truly feels like a home away from home. My family of four had a wonderful 14-night stay here in March 2025. Scandy's recommendations for local attractions in Meghalaya were fantastic. He also suggested reliable tourist taxis, which made it easy for us to explore Shillong and the surrounding areas of Meghalaya. The residency is ideally situated in a peaceful neighborhood, with some of the best restaurants within walking distance, such as Olivia's Kitchen, Deja Vu, and an elderly lady selling delicious soup and momo in the evenings right in front of Deja Vu. The place is clean and well-maintained

The property is same as the pictures.The damp walls mentioned in most reviews won't be an issue,it is ignorable. It's very clean and hygienic property. Kitchen is big and with major appliances and utensils. The owner is extremely helpful. The caretakers are super nice. Quite and accessibile locality. There are shops on walkable distance. It is close to police bazaar. In totality it is a great deal for the pricing.

The apartment was very clean and the caretaker extremely helpful and responsive. Since we stayed for a long time, the apartment was cleaned regularly and the bed linen and towels changed. All in all, a very comfortable stay. And the location, extremely central.
