Beautiful space. We really appreciated the large open area and hammocks to relax and listen to the sounds of the forest, as well as swimming in the river. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped, and the shared bathrooms were very clean

La villa estaba muy bien ubicada, de fácil acceso y con todo lo necesario. Todo muy limpio y con una decoracion muy bonita. La realidad mejor incluso que las fotos. Esta dentro de un complejo donde dan todo tipo de facilidades. David fue un excelente anfitrion, amable y encantador, aportandonos recomendaciones, y teniendo detalles con nosotros. En definitiva un aloja.iento y un anfitrion de 10.

This was my second stay at Johanna’s Living Forest, and I made a special trip to return because I loved it so much the first time. This time, I brought my adult son, and we were both enchanted by the beauty and serenity of this magical place. The space truly lives up to its name — we were surrounded by lush, vibrant jungle, with a beautiful stream running through the property (and a perfect little swimming spot!). We saw incredible wildlife, including colorful birds and even toucans. A highlight of our stay was the morning class led by Johanna — a beautiful blend of chi gong and yoga that left us feeling grounded and refreshed. Johanna’s warmth and wisdom shine through in everything she does, creating an atmosphere that is both peaceful and inspiring. I can’t wait to return again and would recommend Living Forest to anyone looking for a deeply restorative and nature-filled retreat.

Our three generation family thoroughly enjoyed every moment there. Patrick, his boys and wife along with Mar, treated us so well. I highly recommend to enjoy the incredible breakfasts each day. Views to enjoy each morning and evening! We had a blast in the pool area with pool table, pingpong, and the hot tub! We felt we wanted to adopt this family as extended family for future visits. Highly recommend. Oh! Don’t miss the walk to Cote Lake up the road!! Easy walk for the nimble, my 80 year old folks, not as much, but the enjoyed the drive.

If you want remote beauty, this is it! It was so tranquil. We loved lying in the hammocks and listening to the sounds of the birds and the river. Having a kitchen to use, and space to spread out and enjoy ourselves was so relaxing. Johanna was so kind and helpful! She helped us know what was going on with a road closure and gave us alternative ideas when needed. We would highly recommend staying here!

200% recommend the place and the host. The best spot in La Fortuna if you aren’t looking for high end and frills. Ask for a cabin at the rear to enjoy abundant bird life, peace & quiet plus volcano views.

We loved our stay here. It's in a very secluded location which was a little challenging to find in the dark but we soon grew to love the peace and friendly vibes. Food is simple but excellent shared in a common room that encourages you to meet other travelers from all over the world. Keith is always smiling and willing to help book a tour or suggest an activity. Coffee is always on. Hippie chic. Pura Vida.

Montana de Fuego was a great place to stay. We stayed in what they called the “superior bungalows” which had two queen beds and a full bath but it was its own little house structure. We really loved this spot because we had an awesome view from both the front and back porch areas; rainforest on one side and Arenal volcano on the other. The hot springs were very relaxing and all the staff was warm, welcoming and very helpful. I will say the rooms are a bit dated by American standards as other reviews mention but it was perfect for our needs and always felt clean! We did take advantage of a 2 for 1 spa deal on the property and had an awesome experience at a very reasonable price. The location was great with the town of La Fortuna right down the road 8 mins in one direction and the park with great hikes up the road at Arenal 1968. We would definitely tell friends to consider this resort for one of their stays and would gladly come back.

We had an incredible stay at the Fortuna retreat! Breakfast was a quick walk and from the pool we had a beautiful view of the volcano and we saw many birds and monkeys! Up the road you can hike the Fortuna waterfall and many other nature trails. Quick drive into town and many restaurants to choose from. The room was incredible and the glass shower and jungle facing bathroom windows were amazing- would stay here again!

Jardin precioso, habitaciones bonitas y cómodas, incluso desinfectadas de mosquitos antes de entrar. Mercedes un encanto de persona, que nos ayudó en todo, nos cocinó desayunos buenísimos, muy atenta con nosotros y los niños disfrutaron con el entorno y la piscina. Tubimos una muy buena estancia.

Wow! This place is phenomenal! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fortuna Retreat. We liked everything about this place. The security, the cleanliness, the amazing views of the volcano, the beautiful pool and landscaping. This truely had the wow factor! We were looked after by the lovely lady at the front desk, she was accomodating, helpful with recommendations and gave us her time to answer any questions we had. Will definitely be visits again in the future and will recommend to friends and family! AAAA++++

Enjoyed surrounding, lovely cabin. Had ac. Very big shower spacious cabin. Beds were good. I would definitely include tv for the cabin with and small coffee pot. Cabin doesn’t have any appliances. They serve breakfast from 6.30-9.30 for extra charge. Nice big pool but only one sitting chair and one lounge chair. At least 6 would be nice . But over all close to town, nice view of volcano, very closed to the nice waterfall. Location is amazing! Highly recommend!
