Ikuko's house was lovely and huge. We arrived late in the evening - Ikuko was waiting for us - really appreciated it. We slept in the main house ( second floor) - the futon and beds are very comfortable! Izakaya and convenience stores were nearby. Lovely little town to explore on foot. The annex house at the back was also cosy with tatami - good for relaxing during the day. Need a car to come here.

we gingen na deze plek onder andere voor het Indigo verven. de mevrouw in haar leerling waren super vriendelijke hadden goede aanwijzingen waren heel behulpzaam en vrolijk. ze hebben ons ook mooie dingen gewezen zodat we ook nog papier hebben gemaakt vlakbij naar een mooie onzin zijn geweest op anderhalve kilometer lopen en ons bijzonder op ons gemak voelden. het is een eenvoudig onderkomen bij iemand thuis. wij voelen ons zeer welkom en hebben ondanks de taalbarrière goed gecommuniceerd.

Great clean place, value for money. 24/7 supermarket on the other side of the street. Superb (and cheap) Japanese restaurant at 200m. Great host as well!

Nous avons mis un peu de temps à trouver le logement, mais Isa nous avait transmis des photos qui nous ont beaucoup aidé. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la cuisine commune qui a tout ce qu’il faut et le café proposé. C’est un très bon rapport qualité prix! Parfait pour une petite halte lors d’un trip sur Shikoku.

I stayed at HS Japan in Awa-Shi for one night as a pilgrim on the Shikoku Henro trail, and it was my very first overnight stop on the route. The location is very convenient—just about 2 km from Temple No. 10, Kirihataji. The host, Isa, is incredibly kind and always smiling, which made me feel truly welcome. The place itself is spotlessly clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything a pilgrim might need. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my pilgrimage.

I highly recommend staying at Noriko's house. It was the best experience of my trip to Japan. I felt at home with my dear and sweet Kamecha, always very kind teaching me her knowledge about indigo. Naoki was always very kind and helped me a lot with a problem I had with my car. The house has a very authentic Japanese style with good taste in decoration and many antique pieces. Very cozy and comfortable. Noriko was always very helpful and kind with messages as she was in Tokyo. Just five minute far by car there’s an amazing onsen with a view to the river and waterfall. I hope to come back there soon as they are like my family in Japan.
