We had a wonderful time in Atashika. Hisashi was such a warm and lovely host-- always available but also left us our privacy. Our time in the village was just perfect. Ocean, mountains, beach, kind people, peace! (We traveled with our toddler and teenager and both were very happy!)

Séjour merveilleux dans cette maison traditionnelle, avec un point de vue sur les montagnes et le port magnifique. Takeshi est un hôte exceptionnel, nous avons fait un tour de la forêt avec lui qui était fascinant, ses commentaires sur l’histoire et la nature locales sont enrichissants. Je recommande à tout le monde de venir un jour passer du temps dans cette maison et rencontrer Takeshi.

Six of us spent two unforgettable nights at Doratei in Ryujinmura, Japan — a beautifully renovated traditional house that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comfort. The open-concept, fully functional kitchen turned meal prep into a lively, social affair — moving from stove to table was effortless, making every meal a shared experience. The bucolic surroundings were a dream to explore at our own pace — winding trails, lush greenery, suspension bridges and the warmest locals. The mix of tatami mats, shoji screens, and sleek modern touches created a cozy yet stylish vibe. A special highlight was meeting Lee, an awesome storyteller who introduced us to his farm family — the goats, ducks, and chickens were an absolute delight! 🐔🦆🐐 If you’re looking to discover the quieter, more authentic side of Japan, do take the road less travelled to stay here 😌

ホストのおじいちゃんもお宿も消極的に申し上げて最高でした！ 初めての和歌山は子供とパートナーと一緒に滞在させていただきましたが、お宿とおじいちゃんに初めから終わりまで本当にお世話になりました。 シンガポールに住んでいるので、日本の田舎で川や熊野古道など自然風景とゆったりした時間を過ごしたく選んだお宿でしたが、それ以上の体験とサポートをいただきました。 具体的には、伺う前から本当にたくさんの質問をさせていただきましたが、全てご親切にお答えいただきました。 そして到着した私たちを温かく迎えてくださいました。思春期の息子と母である私が気まずい雰囲気になった時にホストのおじいちゃんは優しく息子に話しかけてくれて、お宿で過ごしていく間に息子の心が癒やされていきました。帰る日には「まだ、ここに居たい！帰りたくないな！」といっていました！ おじいちゃんには滞在中も私たちのために沢山の思い出作りに協力していただき、初めての熊野古道も歩くことができました。このお宿で過ごさせていただいた５日間は私たち家族にとって一生の思い出と宝物です。 おじいちゃんとお宿とサヨナラする時は、本当のおじいちゃんとサヨナラするように涙が出てきました。 シンガポールからは６時間かかりますが、また絶対に帰って来たいです。 コンビニが無いのが自慢の田舎で人間らしさを取り戻して、ゆったり過ごしたい方には絶対におすすめのお宿です。 実は、「こちらのお宿には神様が宿っているのではないか？」そんな優しい時間を家族で過ごさせていただき、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。 おじいちゃん、おばあちゃん、本当にありがとうございました。 これからもお元気で長生きしてください。 愛と感謝と祈りを込めて みきより

Kenji's home was spacious and incredibly clean. It was exactly as described. When we arrived, we met Kenji's mother who showed us how to enter the place. She also walked us through the home and demonstrated how to use the hot water and A/C unit. She was incredibly helpful! My partner and I stayed in Shingu to hike the Koguchi-goe and Ogumotori-goe trails for two days. We started our day by walking to the nearby bus stops and traveling to the trailheads. Because of the home's location, we were also able to finish our days at local restaurants. We plan to stay here again in the future!

I can’t wait to come again and stay longer. That is all that has to be said about this acommodation. Beautiful location, the space outside and inside is amazing. Felt like at home from the first second I arrived. Also the host is amazing, friendly and very helpful.

An outstanding place to stay, so tranquil and with beautiful views. Kay was exceptional in his helpfulness and suggestions. Couldn't recommend more highly.

It's a very nice house, clean and convenient for who is doing the Kumano Kodo trail. The place is perfect for a short stay, the bus stop is 3min away. But be aware if you're planing to go to town the last bus to get back is at around 17:30. There is a restaurant near by but hours doesn't help much. Motoe has you covered as she has filled the house with snacks and drinks to buy at a reasonable price and also kindly offered to take us to the nearest supermarket. It is a great place to spend the night.
