We came here to visit the Masai Mara game reserve. After we completed the treacherous journey (an off-road capable vehicle is a must!) we were greeted by a wonderful scene. The staff waited for us in front of a large tent. There is one large tent and one small tent with three bedrooms in total. The weather was good and we where amazed by the nice atmosphere. The view from the terrace in the front is simply breath taking. You can look over the Mara triangle and with a pair of binoculars you can watch the elefants etc. from above. The food was fantastic, it was a mix of authentic Kenyan food and French food (the host is French). It was always freshly cooked and very delicious We came at the beginning of the rain season which we experienced through a strong rain shower overnight. Here you do notice the downsides of a tent. It can get quite cold as the tent always lets in a lot of air, but the provided blanket is very warm. All in all a great place to stay and to do a safari from.

I had such a lovely and amazing stay at Alicia’s! I only regret planning just one night with a late check-in. I highly recommend staying at least two nights or spending at least two full days to fully enjoy the experience. There’s so much to do around the area and Alicia also provides great recommendations!

This place was the perfect getaway—serene, quaint, and peaceful. I loved every moment of my stay! Chef Hellen provided exceptional meals, and the gentleman who kept the bonfire going added such a warm touch to the experience. The service was top-notch, and I’d love to return in the future. Highly recommend!

The view was absolutely amazing from the deck and the housekeeper so helpful and friendly. The house itself is so unique and rustic - perfect for a nature getaway.

This is a very special place and the whole idea and concept of social tourism appealed. My wife was able to volunteer at a local medical clinic and I volunteered at the local college which was absolutely inspiring. All of the staff at Oldarpoi were so friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant was great and we enjoyed cocktails around the fire pit every night. Oldarpoi does have a generator for when the electricity drops but it took a while to kick in at times making it difficult to keep things cool in the fridge (staff did offer to store perishable food in their fridge in the main kitchen if needed.) It would be beneficial to take a torch although paraffin lamps were available. We did a walking safari and game drive with local Maasai guide Moses which was absolutely breathtaking and we learned so much. Pool was huge (much larger than photos on website!) Cannot recommend highly enough! A wonderful experience escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Having stayed in a number of cottages around the Green Park area, this was the pick of the lot. Excellent (large) cottage with superb company from Kiki, Otto and Monty (dogs). Great view back down to the lake.

We loved our time at this house. The house is simple, but well-setup and designed. This is one of the few houses that seems to have screens on the windows so that you can leave the windows open to enjoy the breeze and not have to battle mosquitoes! We loved that you could walk down the driveway a couple hundred meters and be right at the lake and watch hippos and birds. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Lucille was a wonderful host from the get go. The cottage was absolutely perfect for the 6 of us. We had a very proactive house help and cleaner who sorted us out when we needed with whatever we needed. We would definitely pay a visit again and stay longer!

Francolin cottage is a beautiful house. It is very serene and large for a family. Enjoyed the customer service. The caretaker Judy was friendly and readily available to us. She helped us check in smoothly. The rooms were clean with comfy beds. The kitchen had all the amenities and cutlery, plates etc one would need for their stay. The view from the balcony in the upper room is exquisite. The garden is well maintained with a comfy sitting area for chilling and enjoying the sunset. We got a Chef called David who made us a delicious dinner. He was friendly ,prompt and proactive in helping us enjoy our stay. The house is located inside Great Rift valley Lodge and we went for swimming at their hotel which the kids enjoyed very much plus had a yummy lunch there. Christian was always responsive to our inquires and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Christians home.
