Where do I even begin... I've traveled a lot, stayed in a wide variety of countries and homes, and I think this is among my top 3, if not my absolute favourite. We chose Jon's Villa Urraca for a small group of friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. We wanted something quiet and off the beaten path, with accessible amenities, comfort and simplicity. My group are all seasoned travelers, and it would be my first time to the Tola area in Nicaragua. Having come to Nicaragua for quite a few years, I expected a balance of comfort and challenges, but we found all of the former and none of the latter. Urraca is unique, with 3 separate self contained villas sharing a pool and very private beach, with a great restaurant and bar steps away, a beautiful sunset every night, and all the comforts one could expect. The local staff were amazing, helpful, and just as responsive as Jon throughout our stay. We can't say enough good things about our stay. Thank you Jon and team for an amazing experience!

The best location if you are advance, Expert surfers! Hands down🙌 the world class breaks call Colorado, Panga Drop. Also they can arrange a panga to take you to Lance's left(longest left break) for $200. This iguana community has shops, a gym also. Pay $15 for a group workout with an instructor. Pay $10 for self workout. The house was easy to find and super clean, beautiful, right on the beach and a pool. But just be careful from sand fleas during sunrise and sunset time....there are tons out there! Bring bug spray. There are so many places to eat around this house, also this house comes with full kitchen and BBQ grill, but wish had basic condiments, like olive oil, salt, pepper, paper towels, sugar etc.... We really enjoyed staying at this house. Super tranquilo😊

Extraordinaire emplacement ! vue magnifique ! Jobi et Hebi qui nous ont accueillis sont vraiment adorables. A notre demande Jobi nous a préparé du poisson grillé et un ceviche délicieux,des couchers de soleil splendides. Un rêve !! Prévoir de l'eau et des victuailles, le chemin d'accès n'est pas en bon état. Le paradis se mérite ;)

We booked Randy’s house very last minute. He was quick to respond and what a treat it was to stay there. We have never stayed so close to the sea! The house is literally on the beach. You can flop out of bed, into the pool and on to the beach. Jacob (caretaker) and his wife are on site. They can give you tips about things but don’t interfere. I would really recommend transport here. We didn’t have any and things are pretty spread out. We ended up hiring motor bikes and putting out kids on the back. Best to get supplies from Chinendega to cook but can buy fresh fish. Didn’t want to leave. Perfect place to just stop

All 5 rooms are very comfortable with big bed and AC. Bathrooms are clean and ample. We really had a wonderful vacation in this beautiful house, just one block away from beach. I realized why this house call Casa Congo. I saw three congos, big monkey, what a bonus!! I will definitely come back next time.

This is the second time my family stays at Shannon’s place & we always have a good time. Harold the caretaker is always available if needed. Shannon is quick to respond as well. Thank you Shannon & Harold!

Our stay in San Juan del Sur was great The house was clean, and we loved having the pool in the backyard. The location was perfect just a two minute walk to the beach and only a 10-minute drive to nearby restaurants. Vicente, Doña Celia, and the security guard were very friendly, always available to answer any questions and ready to help with anything we needed. While the house could use a little remodeling, it was a fantastic place, highly recommend it!

Nos hospedamos en Casa Isabella y la experiencia fue simplemente espectacular. La casa es hermosa, cómoda y sumamente limpia. Su piscina es increíble, rodeada de un jardín precioso que crea un ambiente perfecto para el descanso. Además, el acceso al mar es sumamente fácil, lo que hace que la estadía sea aún más placentera. Uno de los aspectos que más nos sorprendió fue la cocina, totalmente equipada con una gran variedad de utensilios que permiten preparar cualquier tipo de comida. En otros alojamientos de alquiler me he encontrado con limitaciones en la cocina, pero en Casa Isabella no fue el caso; tenía todo lo necesario para cocinar con comodidad. Las habitaciones y los baños son muy cómodos, todo está impecable y bien organizado. No es necesario llevar toallas ni otros esenciales, ya que te suministran todo lo que puedas necesitar. Además, la casa es muy segura, lo que nos permitió disfrutar con total tranquilidad. No duden de este espacio, realmente lo van a disfrutar 🙏🏻

Amazing place to stay in SJDS. Lots of space, beautiful views, comfortable bed, very clean and fantastic pool. We loved it there. The walk is a bit steep for the first 100 m but doable unless you are very old or have bad knees. It’s a pretty quick walk to town so we walked it everyday. If you are getting groceries that are heavy, get a taxi back up the hill for $10. Also, don,t rely on Google maps to get you there as it leads you in the wrong direction. Use Karin’s recommendation with Hotel Victoriano as your reference point. You’ll go over gravel roads for a bit but don’t worry, you are on the right path. If you are there on a weekend you will be glad to be up the hill and a bit away from town as it gets loud with parties in town. Overall a great place to stay and enjoy the town.

From the very beginning, Clare and Sacha made us feel so welcome in their space. When we walked in the door, all of us did a collective gasp. The love and attention that went into building the space is so obvious. The huts are beautifully designed, and have everything that you need for a comfortable stay. The pool was awesome, and we loved swimming and rinsing in the outdoor shower. The location was great to walk to the beach. They recommended us lots of great local transportation and food options. The breakfast that their staff cooked was delicious. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing stay! The house was fantastic—clean, comfortable, and filled with fun activities like Hook 21, cornhole, and mini-golf, which kept us entertained throughout. The outdoor kitchen and living area were the heart of the home, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time there. The location was absolutely perfect—we felt safe and relaxed the entire time. The host was incredibly attentive and responsive, going above and beyond to accommodate my elderly parents, which we truly appreciated. If you’re looking for a comfortable and fun getaway, this place is a perfect choice. Highly recommend!

5 STARS all the way around for Miki’s house. She was amazing to work with, her house was so cool and super close to the beach. We loved the vibe, the plants, the pool, everything was spot on!

great place to enjoy, nice pool, great for bbq and a pleasant and cozy getaway. not too far from the beach, san juan del Sur itself is an interesting place to hang out, restaurants, night life, and the beach itself. you have everything you need to enjoy it from this beautiful house.

We had a great stay at Casa Malinche. It was a quaint house in a great location. A short walk to the beach. Checkin was very easy and anything that we had concerns with was quickly taken care of. The price was right for this house. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Jennifer!

The house is overall great, but the layout is a bit unusual—you have to leave your room and go downstairs to use the outside bathroom, which isn’t ideal at night. Two days before checkout, a housekeeper came to tidy up the outdoor area for a few hours. While she respected my request to leave the indoor space alone, it felt a bit invasive for a week-long stay. Some guests might appreciate the gesture, but I prefer more privacy. No drinking water was provided, so we had to buy some right after arriving—not a big deal, but it would’ve been a nice touch. On the plus side, Brant and Khadine were very responsive. On day one, I mentioned that branches were scraping against the room and making it hard to sleep—they had a gardener come quickly to trim them, which I really appreciated. The location is fantastic: steps from the beach and a 20–30 min walk to surf breaks. Two lovely cats add a sweet touch. Other "wins" = comfy beds, great hammocks, and a blender for smoothies :)

We had an amazing family trip, everyone was helpful including the neighbours. Pool and beach was to die for. We will be back

I live on the beach in Florida and this was the most peaceful beach house experience. I’ve had. Mario was super helpful and helped us all the way through our day. We will return again in the summer and I usually don’t stay at the same place twice thank you so much for your hospitality and allowing us to use your home!

I loved that place. Stayed there for 2 weeks and was supposed to stay only for 1. Definetly a nice place to stay if you want privacy ! Daniel is awesome as well ! Loved him !
