To see the workings of a multi-generational family farm, stay in a 170 year old house with beautiful high-quality furniture and fittings, and engage with a kind and gentle-natured farmer and his wife…was wonderful. A gentle desert rain arrived as we got there and set the tone for one of the most restful holidays we have ever had. The farmer’s 2 dogs popped in every now and again and made themselves part of the family. Richard and Anika were accommodating and quick to sort out anything we asked for. The house was spotlessly clean and filled with history from the 1800s. There was a sense of warmth with the people living / working on the farm as well. The drive to Nieu Bethesda was around 15min going up a gorgeous gentle pass which presented something new every time we travelled. The highlight of the stay was walking up the hill behind the house and sitting on the bench overlooking the farm, valley, and mountains at sunset. Thank you Richard and Anika (our kids say hi).

We enjoyed staying at Garth's cottage, it was well kept and had everything we needed. We had a lovely braai outside in the beautiful garden whilst listening to the rich birdlife. Garth was a very warm and welcoming host and we particularly enjoyed his sense of humour. We would love to stay at Bedford Way Cottages again!

A beautiful stone cottage with stunning views of the mountains and farm. We had a lovely stay and our dog loved running around on the farm. The cottage was fenced which was perfect to keep our dog safe. We will be back for sure.

This is a most peaceful and private farm cottage at the end of a very private road in a beautiful valley near Graaff-Reinet. You are in a biosphere farming environment where considerable effort is made at preserving the natural flora and fauna of the area. There is a lovely track from the farm cottage up onto the escarpment with never ending view’s across the Camdeboo. We had a most relaxing and peaceful stay there and would love to be there for longer next time. Thank you Tanya for making that special part of the world available for guests to experience.

Great local for Mountain Zebra Park and the Cradock area. Also great stop over. Beautiful farm with interesting rock formation in the stream next to the cabin.

We had a wonderful stay! The stoep, lawn, and braai area were perfect for the kids to enjoy. The house was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The secure parking was a huge plus, especially for an overnight stop on the way to the coast—there was no need to unload the entire car. We highly recommend this place to anyone passing through or staying in town!

Having family scattered across South Africa means coming together over December has often proven difficult, however at Wheatlands we felt we were coming home. Our four families comprising of eight adults, three children, and two dogs felt welcomed and cared for throughout the stay. With amble oppertunity to be "together" while being able to have our own space. David & Kirsten were delightful hosts. Charlotte and Chloe were an absolute treat and Earnst served us so well. We would highly recommend visiting this home, which is enriched with history if you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful stay in the heart of the Karoo. We hope to one day return!
