This was a dream vacation - we had just moved to Portugal and spent 2 weeks getting setup. We wanted a quiet week as a family to rest before school started. This place was perfect: perched on a mountainside in the middle of vines, the space was quiet, peaceful and beautifully designed and appointed. Paulo, the husband, is an architect who refurbishes vintage designer furniture. Teyna, the wife, is an amazing chef. Her breakfasts (included) we delicious and the dinners they offer in their adjoining restaurant and well crafted and tasty. Their place is pet friendly - we brought our dog, and they have a dog, two cats and two birds. We did outings to Porto, nearby Roman ruins, historic villages and swam in the rivers running through them. It was delightful.

Our stay at Lugar das Letras was nothing short of magical. This beautifully restored house, once an old school, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards—a true feast for the eyes. The rooms and bedrooms were incredibly comfortable, thoughtfully designed to make us feel at home. But what made our experience truly unforgettable were Carla and Paula, the two wonderful ladies who took care of every detail. Every morning, they prepared a memorable breakfast for our entire family, filled with warmth and care. Their kindness and hospitality turned our stay into a dream. We can’t wait to return to this little slice of paradise in the Douro Valley. Highly recommended!

Nuno’s place exceeded our expectations. It has a beautiful balcony with a view over the Douro river. The pool area is peaceful and breakfast provided was an added bonus. Nuno was very helpful and provided us with great recommendations for wine tasting and spots to visit. The apartment is spacious, clean and has a small kitchen which we were able to use to cook in the evenings.

Casa Escola at Dajas was wonderful. We stayed two nights with my parents and our dog and had a great time. The staff was super accommodating and friendly. Breakfast buffet was great! Views and private pool were amazing and the house was very clean! I think it’s important to note that there are some steep steps inside the house and the pool doesn’t have steps down with now shallow end, so might not be suitable for some people or children. Also, they are building two new villas next to the house so during the week it might be noisy with construction. All in all would recommend we had a great time!

Paulo and Isabel are the sweetest couple. So welcoming. You stay in a separate building on their property that has a killer view of the Douro Valley. Walking distance to the nearest town. Close to most of the major vineyards but it is so beautiful you will not want to leave! Very comfortable bed. Great inside and outside sitting areas to watch the boats go by and admire the mountains and vineyards. Paulo gives you lots of food for breakfast, more than we could eat so we had lunch as well. We both felt that this was one of the best places we stayed while in Portugal.

All in all a very nice stay. The house is very spaceous.

Nice and super quiet apartment! Room service and a basket with breakfast amenities every morning are a highlight as well as offering a kind of charming lobby. Walkable to Cais da Ribeira (about 25 minutes) and 5 minutes walking to the Marques metro.

먼저 친절한 스텝 덕분에 엘리베이터가 없지만 캐리어를 쉽게 옮길 수 있었습니다 뿐만 아니라 상세한 포르투 도시를 지도와 함께 설명을 자세히 해주시고 포르투에 대한 정보를 주셔서 좋았습니다 포르투 사람에 대한 인상이 좋게 느껴질 정도였습니다 모루공원과 와이너리가 가깝고 강변 뷰는 집에서 나오기 싫을 정도 였습니다. 주방이 매우 만족스러웠는데 특히 쥬스 만드는 기계로 오렌지 쥬스를 만들어 마셨는데 너무 좋았습니다

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans la maison, tout était impeccable. Nous avons été accueilli par Paula qui est très gentille! Merci à Fatima pour ces petits déjeuners et sa discrétion.

Realmente o local é maravilhoso, tem facil acceso até a piscina jacuzzi, e o sauna. falta se calhar alguma indicação da utilização dos mesmos, mas nada que tenha sido complicado ou impossível. o quarto fenomenal! A casa de banho e cozinha muito limpos. Em geral um excelente lugar para descontrair.

We really enjoyed our stay with Jean and Luz. The apartment is beautiful, lovely decor and furnishings and is meticulously looked after and cleaned. The area is great. Many shops and restaurants very close, plus an easy walk to the historic district of Porto. Jean offered to assist us with restaurants and activities. I took him up on this & actually contacted him a couple nights before we checked in at his place. He made recommendations and set us up for dinner and show reservations - way beyond what I expected. When we arrived, he showed us around the neighborhood and walked through the area with us on a map. Both Jean and his wife Luz are great hosts! We'll be back!

De passage pour un mariage au Portugal, nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour. Hôte très accueillant, propreté irréprochable, hôte très serviable. Nous avons passés un très bon séjour.

Amazing and perfect getaway from the city to the peaceful countryside. This house was all what we wanted! Juan was very communicative and Graça who met us there made us feel immediately at home. Her breakfasts were amazing and beautiful organised. Definitely recommend. We will come back in the summer as well.

Quinta da Xandica, located just outside of Valença do Douro village, was a fantastic, and unique experience. It’s rare these days to find an Airbnb hosted by a “real” (boots on the ground) host who is not only there to share local knowledge and accommodates your needs, but literally who also welcomes you in to the ACTUAL family home. It reminded me of a traditional bed and breakfast, in all of the best ways. (Including a lovely breakfast in a dining room!!!) The Quinta was home to Matilde”s great grandfather, and is shared today with her grandmother and father (three generations). It’s a working farm, and an all around charming, beautiful place. Even during our unseasonably rainy visit, the grounds and area was stunning. Practically speaking, the bed was comfortable & the water hot. Dinner made by Matilde was a reasonably priced and delicious with estate wine. We also thoroughly interaction with other guests, the chipped dog, “Bill”, and access to the surrounding area. A treasure!

Cidalia’s place was outstanding. Beautiful room, and amazing views. Gorgeous pool right above Douro. Dary Cidalia’s son was super helpful with every small request. He is a chef, and the breakfast he served was not only delicious with a huge variety, but also beautifully served. Espaço muito bonito e de arquitectura bem integrada na paisagem. Cuidado nos pormenores e cama muito confortável. Todos os equipamentos de segurança e desinfeção preparados e de fácil acesso. As funcionárias, Bruna e Isabel, muito simpáticas e disponíveis, sempre atentas. A comunicação com a Vânia também correu muito bem e agradeço a atenção que teve. Recomendo vivamente!

There are very few places that can live up to the moniker of a truly special location. It take a rare blend of a thoughtful beautiful space, impeccable service, and genuine/ super friendly hosts. My only regret about writing this review is that I am sure once people discover this gem I will find it very difficult to find an available opening again as it is sure to be in high demand. Enrico and his entire family are the perfect hosts, the included simple breakfast of fresh bread, yogurt, fruit and assorted cheese is such a nice treat to wake up to every morning and partake in their amazing Dining Room. I can't recommend highly enough trying their tasting dinner in the evening, as Enrico apparently is a 1 start rated Michelin Chef and the food is amazing. Even if you don't book a room to stay in you should go to the restaurant one evening if you are in Porto. My room was spotless, very comfortable and beautifully laid out. Super Comfortable Bed as well. This place is special.
