A group of old school friends had a lovely stay at Shelia’s beautiful house. Great open kitchen and communal space. Made use of the hot tub which was a nice addition. Nice country walks from the house and enjoyed a meal at The Farmers Inn. Would definitely stay again.

Firstly wow! The area in which this little cottage is set is beautiful, tranquil and private and has an enclosed garden for mine and my sister’s dogs. The welcome hamper was the best we’ve ever had with so many goodies in! Lots of local dog walks around the area and hotel grounds and we even found a waterfall after a heavy rainfall which was a lovely surprise. The cottage was clean and all beds made up, towels were provided too. Log fire and wood fired pizza oven and hot tub were so welcome on a foggy day when we were unable to travel. Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss but not a real problem. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Only negative was only 2 windows open. We loved the fact we were surrounded by nature and birdsong and would have loved to have the windows open to make the most of this. Wouldn’t put us off going again as there are so many other areas we didn’t get to explore around there.

Had a couple of lovely relaxing days, really impressed with Maple Cottage, great peaceful surroundings, cottage is like a home from home, warm, clean and comfortable, everything provided, wanted for nothing. great hosts, definitely recommend. Bonus for us was the cloud free evening, with no light pollution, the view of the stars was amaxing. Jeff & Margaret

The photos don’t do this place justice. It really is beautiful. Quaint, spacious, clean and tidy. Plenty of facilities such as vac, mop, washing machine, dryer, cleaning products etc. Kitchen is a lovely space to all sit together. Bedrooms were very spacious and room for clothes etc. Lovely nights sleep in comfortable beds. Central heating worked a treat with log fire in the room (we didn’t need to use) including other heaters. It is lovely and warm and cosy. The views and surrounding areas are lovely. We used the hot tub which was a lovely addition and worked well been outside the conservatory part. We were a family group of mixed ages and we would absolutely stay here again. Host was great with contact prior to arrival with flexible check in/out. Overall a brilliant stay and we’ve also said we would return.

Sycamore Cottage was perfect for us. We were 2 families with 4 kids and 2 dogs in tow and the space was perfect. The garden is dog secure which made things easy for us. There is a games room, small playground and a big green area for the kids to play and for the dogs to have a run around. Lots of plus points for this stay! Electric vehicle charging too. The house is very spacious. Lots of space for us all to be comfortable (8 people) and not on top of each other. The kids loved the hot tub of course which was immaculately clean. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you

This place was perfect for us. 7 of us went down to have a nice long weekend and the place didn't disappoint. The house was in the perfect area and quiet and had stuff for everyone. I would highly recommend people to stay at this property if they have a group of friends or a large family, will be definitely coming back later on in the year or make a yearly trip. when we first visited the owners were helpful and pointed us to the correct places for the shops, supplies and places to go. The hot tub was an added bonus and the beds were so comfy we didn't want to get up.

Our Christmas stay was curtailed by family circumstances and Victoria could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Quick to respond to all our messages! Thank you Victoria!

We had a great time here in Whitby. The house is huge and well equipped and we had plenty of space for our group of 12. We appreciated being able to explore by foot as the house is within walking distance of the station, the town and the beach. Would love to return and stay a bit longer!

We had a lovely time. It was like a home from home. Emma couldn't do enough for us. The bed was really comfortable and there were plenty of enticing cafes and restaurants in Bishop Auckland.

We stayed for the weekend for my husband’s 30th birthday with our newborn and dog. Jacqui and David were incredibly welcoming upon arrival and showed us round. The cottage was spotless. The dog field was great in order to let our dog off lead as it is all enclosed. Jacqui also went out of her way to sort a balloon for my husband’s birthday which was there on arrival as-well as a lovely homemade cake :) the views were stunning, would highly recommend anyone to stay here, couldn’t fault at all, would love to return.

What a great find away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, on a very wet and windy New Year’s Eve! Diana and Simon made us feel extremely welcome. Considering the studio was above a garage, it was extremely warm. We were able to help ourselves to more logs for the wood burning stove, which we were grateful for. We had everything we needed and found the studio big enough and equipped enough, to have stayed for a good few days. Thank you.

The barn is nicely located for walking the moors or exploring the forest. The host is very kind and responsive. This is a camping experience. There is a coin shower and flush toilet 100 m away. Prepare for cool temperatures in the barn and come with all the supplies you need for camping. We enjoyed the stay.

Lovely cosy cottage, wood burner was on when we arrived which was really welcoming. Carol and John were great hosts and were very friendly, even asking us if we would like to feed the pet lambs, which we did, what a treat! Comfy beds, we had a really quiet and restful nights sleep. The kitchen contained everything we needed for us to cater for ourselves. We had a great stay.

I would definitely recommend Chris’s place. It is clean, spacious and beautiful! As a host, Chris was very helpful and responsive. If I’m ever in Durham again, I’d stay here!

Michael was very responsive and helpful and the location was great for access to shops and the town centre.

A lovely stay, very well equipped and comfortable king sized bed. Very conveniently located within the village. The wood burning stove in the lounge was welcome because it was a cold weekend. Andy explained that the cottage was a bit cool due to the heating not working fully and he was awaiting a part. There was a portable heater in each of the bedrooms we were using (so 2) which made them warm and comfortable but it wasn’t ideal having to move the heaters from room to room, perhaps there could have been one in every room? Without the portable heaters downstairs both the lounge and kitchen were very cold. There were some nice touches which we appreciated including the complimentary bottle of wine and the fire being set up ready to be lit which was very welcoming.

Loved staying in this apartment...easy to find, very smooth check in, immaculately clean and helpful additions such as tea/coffee/kitchen roll etc. Good communication throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed or time here and as we're regular visitors to the area, we will be back!

Beautiful and clean property - cosy and warm once the heating had been on. The cottage was just perfect for our family of 4 even with our son who is 6’4” it was still very spacious and comfortable. Location wise, it couldn’t get better - just a short walk to the harbour and all the shops and restaurants & in the other direction the museum and down to the beach where we walked to Sandsend. It was a little chilly but was such a pleasure to warm up in a hot bath once we got back to the property. Charlotte was very welcoming and such a wonderful host - thank you for everything - we will return.
