This really is a unique retreat! It was an amazing short getaway where we were able to relax in a truly beautiful place. I loved how cosy the cottage was and stepping outside in the evening under a moonlight sky and solar lights was truly magical! So pleased we booked this place!

Our stay was fantastic, comfortable, and exactly what we needed before the long drive back home. The volunteers were enthusiastic and made us feel right at home. It was a little hot inside the room but that was easily solved by leaving the door open while we were inside.

We stayed here for a couple of nights as a base to do the Tongariro crossing. Good space with a full kitchen and comfy furniture. National park is not very big so it's a 2 minute walk to the bar/restaurant/shop. Great base for activities. highly recommend.

A little slice of paradise for those seeking to unplug from the world (not literally as there's still wifi)! Our family of 5 loved staying at Cara's place. Well equipped kitchen (including a proper coffee machine), great shower pressure and the kids loved using the kayaks and jumping on the trampoline. The sunrise and moon rise from the deck is stunning. Just stock up before arrival (no shops in the village) and it's the perfect family holiday.

A great place to stay in National Park! It was homey, comfortable, and removed from the rest of the town enough to feel some separation, but close enough to walk anywhere. If you are looking to hike or ski in or around Tongariro, this is a great place to do it from.

We had a great time in Ohakune -- the cabin is a holiday property so is a little rustic, but had all the facilities we needed, including a clothes dryer, and is quite close to town. We enjoyed the views toward the mountain, though couldn't see too much of the mountain itself because of the low cloud. The cabin is an ideal place to stay for a few days in winter or summer, though the two bedrooms are closely connected (the only exit from one bedroom is through the other) and there is only one double / queen bed, so is probably more suitable for a family with young kids.

Such a welcoming place to stay and I felt very looked after. Lisa and her team are exceptional cooks which added to the experience!

Great place, amazing hosts and location. Quiet relaxing and beatifull

Very comfortable and clean stay right by our hiking location. Straight-forward check-in with clear instructions to was super helpful. The site has a lot more amenities than we were expecting, including a large communal kitchen, games room and dining area as well as extra bathrooms.

Fantastic accommodation!

A lovely snug place to spend some rainy days 😜. Nice space for a family of 4. It was very welcoming and well equiped with all the essentials, kid friendly and a good location. The kids enjoyed the novelty of a round house. Only reservation was that there wasn't much space to dry wet ski gear.
