Mama as beach bungalows was everything I hoped for. A little ways away from the hustle and bustle of Santa Teresa but with the quad rental Mary set us up with getting around was easy and so fun. The beach nearby was beautiful and mostly empty. Awesome tide pools with interesting crabs and fish, a resident gecko, iguanas, howler monkeys, squirrels and birds all playing in the trees around the bungalow. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable beds, and the most responsive host I’ve had. Mary was helpful from the moment we booked until even after we left. I will definitely be recommending this place to everyone and hope to visit again soon. Perfect hub for getting around Santa Teresa, Cabuya and montezuma. Pura vida!

Breathtaking views, very friendly service, a little slice of heaven. Remote location with lots of peace and tranquility. Only advice is bring lots of food with you given the remote nature of the spot. Would highly recommend, very beautiful!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The location is right on the beach and very walkable. At night there was a guard that stayed on the property and there were security cameras. The owner also owns the hotel two doors down so you were able to go there for breakfast and use their amenities. The room was small but very clean. It is exactly how it looks in the picture. Stairs to get to the room so be aware if you accessibility concerns. It was perfect for me as a solo traveller. There was a shared fridge in the common space which was also nice. I would stay here again with no hesitations.

Ryan and Yan were amazing hosts. They both went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Ryan helped me schedule anything I was interested in booking. It felt like a high end hotel concierge service which was awesome. And Yan made the most amazing breakfast every morning. Felt like a high end restaurant. Everything about my stay was perfect. Highly recommend staying here

Ein paradiesischer Ort direkt am Strand. Die Cabin liegt im Schatten unter Palmen. Die ganze Anlage wird sehr gepflegt. Das Frühstück im Nachbarhotel mit Blick auf die Wellen war wunderbar. Dort durften wir auch den Pool benutzen. Das Personal war super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants innerhalb weniger Gehminuten erreichbar. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und empfehlen Hotel Macao zu 100% weiter. Wir kommen wieder!

We LOVED staying at Yan and Ryan's! The space was impeccably clean and mold-free which can be very hard to find during the rainy season in Nosara. The space felt so fresh and well taken care of. Yan & Ryan are such beautiful people and there was such a good energy- true B&B feeling, with delicious breakfast and a beautiful pool deck. We felt so cared for and comfortable and will absolutely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at Joe's place in Samara. It is a lovely old Tico house centrally located a couple of blocks from the beach. There is a large upstairs porch with tables, chairs and hammocks where we spent many of our mornings and late afternoons. The garden is beautiful and peaceful. The women who prepared our breakfast were sweet and made delicious gallo pinto. Other guests were friendly and interesting.

If you love nature this is definitely the place for you. I literally worked with my computer on the balcony with a view of animals and plants. Playa Carillo, which is one of the nicest beaches in Costa Rica, is a 5 minute drive and Samara is not too far away either. Dione, the host is a wonderful human being and made me feel incredibly welcome in her home. The place brims with positive energy and serenity. The breakfasts that Dione provides are better than most restaurants and made with love. She also has plenty of accessories to rent if you want to snorkel or need a beach chair. I definitely got hooked up with the great tips she provided me on places to go and things to visit. It feels like a safe space overall; its clean with a big bed and has everything you need. The value in staying here is unmatched compared to the hotels that are beachside.
