We went with our kids and dog and it was the perfect week away. The grounds are spectacular and private so the kids and dog can run around safely. The accommodation is ideal, comfortable with everything we needed. The location is perfect if you want to go to places on the east coast. Duns is a lovely village with friendly people. We enjoyed it so much, we’ve already booked to return!

Avril and Alan were super friendly and helpful, lovely hosts! The cottage was lovely and we loved the gypsy caravan. Both our boys (4 and 6) loved having the chance to sleep out in the caravan for a night. They also thought the local park was the best park they'd ever been to so a big thumbs up there aswell! We'll definitely be back!

This was the perfect place to get away from the busy city lovely cottage well presented very clean well equipped and very homely. Margot was great host checking in and easy to get in contact with. Absolutely loved this place and would definitely stay again

We had an extremely enjoyable week at this delightful barn conversion. It was perfect for our needs; close to Edinburgh for sightseeing during the daytime , comfortable and cozy for relaxing in the evenings. Kitchen was well stocked and we loved the wood burning stove. We really appreciated the welcome package of fresh farm eggs, biscuits and tea and coffee. Communication with Chris was great and we would highly recommend this property.

If you are looking for a beautiful, well kept cottage in a peaceful idyllic location with a super friendly host, look no further. Great location for exploring the borders and beyond. We used the cottage as a great central base to travel as far as Edinburgh, Bamburgh, Berwick Upon Tweed and Jedburgh. The cottage is set far back from the main road, so no road noise and always felt safe with our toddler. Would definitely come back again, thank you!

What a beautiful, well looked after cottage! We had a wonderful time staying there, it has everything you need away from home, it's really cosy and comfortable. The hosts are lovely, very helpful and flexible. We would definitely recommend this place and will come back if we are ever in the area again.

Wir waren für 10 Tage in John‘s Ferienhaus, um Südschottland und die Gegend um Edinburgh kennenzulernen. Schon bevor wir ankamen, gab es ein Problem mit dem Mietwagen. Zum Glück hatten wir John als Gastgeber, der uns äußerst hilfsbereit unterstützte. Das Ferienhaus ist auf einem Bauernhof, es ist ruhig dort, das Haus selbst ist wunderschön eingerichtet, viel großzügiger als auf den Fotos, und es gibt alles, was man braucht, um sich wohlfühlen zu können. Manchmal haben wir uns schon Regen gewünscht, um nichts unternehmen zu müssen und ohne Sorge etwas zu versäumen, einen Tag mit Lesen am Kamin verbringen zu können. Die umgebende Landschaft ist geprägt von hügligen Schafweiden. In 10-minütiger Entfernung ist Galashiels, eine kleine Stadt mit Bahnanschluss nach Edinburgh, in der man Einkaufen und Essengehen kann. Von John‘s Unterkunft aus bieten sich Ausflüge nach Edinburgh, zu Seen, zur Ostküste Schottlands und zu den vielen kleinen Städtchen in Südschottland an.

Thank you Andrew for an amazing stay. The Wee Bothy was absolutely spotless and a perfect place to stay if visiting Edinburgh or the surrounding areas. Perfect for our dog Rocky with a secure garden and plenty of beaches nearby. Andrew was on hand to welcome us and provide useful local information and was always on hand should any questions arise. He also went out of his way to allow us to rearrange our initial visit in December due to a family emergency, very grateful! Please consider The Wee Bothy on your next stay to south east Scotland!

A fantastic family stay at this wonderful barn conversion. We couldn’t have asked for more. The location is great,just a few miles outside the main town of Galashields (which has everything in it….and some great delivery services) The property was spacious and catered for our needs and our wheelchair user. The hot tub is the icing on the cake,peaceful and tranquil at any time of the day. We would love to return in the future.

The cottage was exactly what we were hoping for, away from it all so peaceful, lovely views, no light pollution, but easy to get to. The cottage was cosy (even during icy cold windy days), comfortable and well equipped. Large Utility Room great for sorting the dogs out after a wet walk. All in all, had a lovely week, great start to the New Year.

We had a really lovely stay and wish we had booked longer. It worked perfectly as we had our wedding reception in the Parish Hall just a few houses away. The setting is beautiful and we were delighted to have fresh eggs and bread on arrival. Super comfy bed, well equipped kitchen. We didn't have time to go on the local walks, but I know there is lots of beautiful countryside all around. Thank you - 100% recommend for anyone who wants to relax and experience the beautiful borders countryside.

Lovely cottage with bath and shower, nice kitchen . The photos of the view from the sun room on the site do not correspond exactly to today's reality: the shrubs have grown but that is not very important. The bed could be more comfortable . We enjoyed the log burner and Yvette gave us enough wood to let it burn for 4 evenings. A bit expensive but all accommodations in Scotland are expensive. If you want to travel and spend time in lovely cottages, be ready to pay the price. We recommend Thairn cottage.

Probably the best place we've stayed at to date. Unbelievably picturesque surroundings, and in the middle of nowhere which made for a very peaceful and restful stay over Christmas. Accommodation was fantastic with plenty of space. Huge kitchen that was very well equipped, lovely spacious bedrooms each with very clean and modern bathrooms. Large dining room/lounge area with wood burner and tall ceilings. We didn't use the outside space much because of the time of year but did venture out a couple of times and there's plenty of space, a raised decking area with tables and chairs, so would like to go back over the warmer and lighter months. Rose was a great host and very helpful throughout. Highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful property in a rural location with stunning views. The property had everything we needed and was very well decorated, nothing felt dated or highly used. This is one of the better air BnBs we have stayed in. It’s dog friendly which is an added bonus. Dogs are not allowed upstairs but there’s a baby gate at the bottom to help keep them contained which we were thankful for. The manual sent before our stay was very useful and well put together with everything you could need to know from instructions on the home to local recommendations. The welcome hamper was very generous too. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
