This cottage was perfect for us - 2 couples with small children. Louise gave us loads of information before we arrived, and her husband greeted us shortly after we arrived. It was such an easy stay with small children, we had everything we needed, and the stair gate made life so easy! There were lots of lovely touches like providing snacks, coffee and jams. And Louise even provided some glasses for the solar eclipse!! The surroundings are really peaceful and the kids loved the 2 Shetland ponies in the field opposite. There are lots of options for walks from the cottage, or a short drive away. The Black Lion pub did a great roast dinner. I found there was so much thought put into the stay and Louise was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

Had a lovely stay. Easy self check in and some goodies to welcome us much appreciated. Very quiet location just 5 minute level walk to centre of Bakewell. Quite a few stairs in property but this was expected and not a problem for us. Pamela always very responsive, helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay for 3 nights in this beautiful house (4 adults and a dog) . We just wished we could have stayed longer. The house is spotlessly clean, with a luxurious feel - I.e super comfy beds, linens, products and a great shower. The welcome basket was also a lovely touch. The hosts have thought of everything including stuff for the dog, which was handy, as we had forgotten his bowl. Overall, the stay felt like a real treat and the hosts make you feel very welcome. The local area is stunning, with plenty of walks and places to visit. We will be back!!

Perfect for a couple nights when no kitchen is required. Clean and has nice extras such as sky, Netflix, prime etc. Great location, 30 minute walk from Buxton where lots can be found. Perfect base for exploring the Peak District!

Our stay at the Swiss Cottage was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking views surrounding the property, truly unmatched in their beauty. Glenys has thoughtfully provided everything one could possibly need for a comfortable and seamless stay, making it feel like a home away from home. I had the pleasure of staying here with my friends, and it proved to be the perfect retreat for our girls’ trip. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare our morning teas and coffees effortlessly, adding to the convenience and coziness of our experience. The location is also fantastic just a short walk down the hill, we found a wonderful selection of restaurants, pubs, and cafés, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local charm. Without a doubt, this has been one of our most memorable stays, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book the Swiss Cottage again on our next visit to Matlock. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely stay at Ruth's cottage, we felt really welcome and at home. Ruth had lots of information about local walks, pubs, restaurants etc and was really responsive to messages. We stayed over Christmas and Ruth had decorated the cottage with Christmas decorations which was a really lovely added touch. We had a fantastic break and would definitely stay again.

Lakeview is a dreamy location, in a small Derbyshire village overlooking Carsington Water. It is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Pamela was super helpful, always replying immediately. She was really friendly but not obtrusive. So privacy and peace and quiet was just as I had hoped! The cottage is well equipped and finished to a high standard. I particularly enjoyed the nightly log fires abd felt right at home. I am very much looking forward to a return visit soon!

A great short stay at this lovely cottage. Fantastic views and a cosy feel. Location was very convenient in the village very near to the fabulous pub and lovely walks. The cottage was very well equipped with everything needed.

The cottage was lovely, well appointed and perfect for us and the dogs. It was always warm but the woodburner made the evenings extra cosy. It is in a wonderful location for walking - all from the door! Youlgreave is a fantastic village with a selection of dog friendly pubs and cafes (that also sell amazing bread) plus a great village shop. We loved our time there and will definitely be back. :-)
