My buddy and I had a great time at our cabin! The scenery was beautiful and served us well for multiple hikes around the area. The cabin itself was efficiently-sized and well-stocked. We needed both AC and heat during our stay and both worked just fine. I'd definitely come back!

I loved my stay at Black Oak Cabin. The property is gorgeous and peaceful, and I loved having a view of the lake and wooded areas! It was great to be able to sit on the deck with my coffee in the morning, and to wind down there in the evening just listening to nature. The cabin is pretty much as pictured. This place is rustic, and as noted in other reviews, there are bugs - mostly outside, but a few inevitably get inside. Remember, you're right on a lake in a wooded area in Iowa! If that 'bugs' you, or if rustic is not your jam, this might not be the right place for you, but you will be missing out on a sweet, quirky little gem here. One thing to note is that there are no screens on the windows so you really can't have them open, which would be nice to be able to do. Lastly, when I was booking, McKenzie was great about answering all my questions quickly and was very friendly, as were the folks I met in the office. I will definitely stay here again when I visit next!!

We love Pilgrim Heights and try to stay here a few times a year. It’s like gated “camping” but the best part is you can stay in a real bed with a door that locks! I never worry about our safety and anything we have needed they have helped us with! I love that they constantly improve upon it too. We adore it here and will always be back!

The staff were very professional and friendly. The Cabin was as advertised. Perfect place if you’re looking to get away from city life or having a Social Gathering of any kind (reuní ion). Highly recommend- definitely get more than what you pay for.

This is the perfect retreat for anyone that’s looking for quality family time or just a place to unwind. We loved it so much we opted to stay in extra week in the cabin!

we really enjoyed our stay at Casey's. the house has tons of sleeping area, a full kitchen, two bathrooms (one is just a tub, no shower) and a living room with a little eating nook. it's a home with so much old fashioned charm, but still updated enough to enjoy. the location is close to the little town of Chelsea, which has a surprisingly good bar and grill called the Silver Dollar--definitely recommed the weekend breakfast! the house is on a big piece of wooded property, super quiet. it's an excellent alternative to a hotel room for a place to gather with loved ones. there isn't internet or wifi as of right now. we were happy with the DVD selection, board games, and fooseball table for our entertainment needs. Verizon phone worked well enough for web browsing and probably streaming to the TV (we didn't try that). t-mobile is nearly useless and US Cellular was okay. we hope to stay here during our next visit!
