This was a really cool place to stay. There's only a few cabins available so if you're thinking of going, book quickly. Very private, clean, and peaceful. Service with a smile (even if you lock yourself out of your room in the evening 😊). They have a great restaurant onsite with a delicious brunch menu. The beach is a good 15 -25 min walk (depending on the path chosen), but it's a nice walk, between the mangroves, howling monkeys, iguanas, and the rest of the ecosystem Costa Rica has to offer, it'll only feel like a couple of minutes. Btw, you'll get to see most of it from your cabin too. Restaurants are also 15min walk on average. Avellana is up and coming, and if you're looking for a 5 star all inclusive hotel with all you can eat buffet, party around the pool, and bottomless margaritas, this isn't the place for you... it might open your eyes to a new way of traveling and experiences though. (if you know, you know!) I highly recommend Soul Shine! Super friendly host & staff!!!!

Cozy, clean & comfy at Indra Inn in Playa Grande

Es war sehr gemütlich und familiär. Ich war mit meiner kleinen Tochter (2J.) dort. Sie hat die Hängematte vorm Zimmer und die Außendusche geliebt. Wir haben uns schnell wohl gefühlt. Der tolle Strand ist 10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Auf dem Weg liegen verschiedene Cafés und Restaurants. Angenehme Gegend und nicht zu touristisch.

Avevamo prenotato due giorni, ma abbiamo deciso di restare un giorno in più perché questo posto è un paradiso! Dalla stanza alla cucina in comune alla piscina a sfioro, al tramonto sul mare in una spiaggia incantevole (Playa Grande). Struttura perfettamente integrata nella Natura, costruita conrispetto e attenzione . Ci siamo svegliati con il richiamo delle scimmie che ci hanno osservato durante la colazione! Si avvistano più animali qui dalla piscina che nel parco di Monteverde. Grazie Jeisha, speriamo di poter tornare a trovarti prima o poi!!!

Blanca is so friendly and made our stay really enjoyable. We felt right at home. We even showed up early and she was very accommodating. Location is great, beach is beautiful. Felt very tranquil.

Never has an Airbnb exceeded my expectations until staying at peace retreat. The whole experience was truly such a dream. Our flight arrived late at night and the staff stayed up to check us in and give us a meal. Every breakfast and dinner was an unbelievably beautiful and nourishing spread. The staff was all so kind and the property is extremely well maintained and peaceful. Our favorite part was seeing monkeys and practicing yoga every morning, and we can’t wait to come back and recommend this spot to our friends.

Rafael et sa maman nous ont super bien accueilli. On s’est tout de suite senti comme chez nous! J’ai bien aimé leurs trois chats: Michaella, Mini et Lulu! La maison de Rafael est super bien situé, près de plusieurs restaurants et d’épiceries mais surtout juste sur le bord de la mer! Les couchers de soleil étaient MAGNIFIQUES! Playa Potrero est très tranquille et c’est ce qu’on a aimé. Aucun stress d’aller marcher sur la plage à la noirceur! La chambre était très bien avec air climatisé. On s’endort avec le bruit des vagues, c’était parfait! La cuisine commune est facile d’accès et il y a tout pour faire à manger si vous le souhaitez. Bref c’est un endroit qu’on recommande fortement si vous passez par Potrero!

I gave 5 stars because it would definitely be 5 stars if there was no construction. A lot of the town is being renovated so it’s hard to avoid this anyway if you want to be walking distance. This place was well worth the special pricing due to the construction next door — the property is sooo chic and with semi private pool with day beds, amazing fresh breakfast, 2 blocks away from downtown but not in downtown with the crowds, and you have beach club access a block away with a beautiful gym and infinity pool. The construction was from 6a-6p, we just got up early and stayed out most of the day. If you want a great deal, amazing hospitality, walkable location, and can handle some noise, definitely recommend. We only stayed for 3 nights and I think that was good for us due to the circumstances. If you are planning to stay long, like to sleep in, and want a peaceful slow morning, I would recommend looking a little outside of town.

Nice and clean room, everything went smooth from arriving to checking out and everything in between. Good location for doing anything in Tamarindo and the pool is in a nice very relaxing area of the complex.Host was wonderful and very helpful.Definitely would come back

Beach apartment in Playa Grande

We had a lovely stay at Javier's. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, which we especially appreciated after our long trip from California. Best thing for us was how close the beach was. It took us less than five minutes to walk to a stunningly gorgeous beach with the best body surfing waves we've ever caught. There were also some nice places to eat nearby and an easy jaunt to the water taxi's which take you to Tamarindo. Day trips are also very doable, with the Las Leonas waterfalls within a 1.5 hr drive and the Buena Vista adventure tours (zip lining, horseback, water slide) within 2.5 hrs. Would definitely stay here again.

El Manglar is the perfect and best place to stay in Playa Grande. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, the location is ideal, and the price is affordable. I love that this is a place owned and run by Ticos. It’s nice to stay at the beach in Costa Rica where the guests aren’t just tourists, but also nacionales. Gracias por todo!

Really cute spot with easy access to the beach. Hosts were very responsive and went out of their way to ensure I had made it safely to an excursion I had signed up for thru them. Would definitely stay again. Make sure to try out their restaurant down the road.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft mit Küche, tollem Bad, schönem Pool und Terrasse. Der Ort ist noch nicht so erschlossen und daher ist weniger los, auch am Strand, der wunderschön ist! Es ist insgesamt ein sehr warmes Klima in Avellanas. Aber insgesamt sehr schön und Justin ist ein toller Gastgeber! Ich würde in jedem Fall wiederkommen!!!

We loved Hotel Cantarana! It was the perfect spot to relax before our wedding in Playa Grande. Love the community and how walkable everything is. Loved the coffee shop, restaurant, and private path to the beach. Everyone was so friendly and helpful too. The bed was comfy! The pool was refreshing and very much needed. Really no complaints at all.

Rafa y su mamá son los mejores anfitriones de todo Costa Rica, con ellos vas a vivir realmente la pura vida de Costa Rica 🇨🇷. Su casa esta justo frente al mar, cuentan con espacio para dejar el auto. Hay muchas playas cerca en el auto a menos de 15 minutos, muchos lugares donde comer y varios súpers para conseguir lo básico. Rafa es excepcional no se arrepentirán de haber reservado con el. Convivimos 4 días y 3 noches y sinceramente no me quería ir, pero tenia que avanzar mi camino. Convivir con Rafa es sentirse en casa con lo mas local la verdadera experiencia de Costa Rica bastante Tuanis Pura Vida
