After 2 weeks of volunteering, this accommodation was great to come down and relax. The location was really great and Barbara was always on hand to help with recommendations, a bajaji etc. needed. It was a great end to our time in Zanzibar. Highly recommended!

Popo House was the perfect way to end my vacation. As an introvert coming off of seven long, aggressively planned days with a group in Kenya, I was looking to relax and decompress before returning home. This was just that. Lucy and Suli were incredibly welcoming and provided me with all the information I needed to figure things out. I mostly hung out at the pool or on the beach or in the hammock, sometimes with Milly and Poppy (their dogs). When I needed or wanted to go out, they had given me the number of a driver who could find the house (it’s off the beaten path) and at a reasonable rate. I ordered delivery two nights using the PolePoleFood app and it was totally decent, if you’re really not looking to venture out. If you’re a person looking to cram in a lot of the major tourist activities, you might be better off in Stone Town or up north. But if you want to chill, read a book, and listen to the ocean, cannot recommend this more. Sad to leave. Even sadder I never met the cats.

I would definitely stay here again. The space is beautiful and kept nicely. Abdul was very responsive and helpful. I appreciated his flexibility with me needing to extend my stay. My husband and I really love Fumba town , and this was a perfect introduction. Thank you so much for your kindness Abdul! You’ll see us again soon!

Liza and Raphael are great hosts. The house is simply fantastic and you immediately feel at home. The location was perfect for us. It's not so touristy and crowded there. Really pleasant to enjoy the island. Hatibu and his team take great care of you and you feel very well looked after. The food was fresh and delicious every day. The manager Hatibu is always available and fulfills your every wish. For me there is really nothing to complain about. We stayed here for a week with the whole family (6 people) and at the end we really didn't want to leave at all. It is one of those places that you would prefer to keep to yourself. An insider tip. l'alloggio era addirittura più grande di quanto apparisse nelle immagini: Carola e Mado hanno fatto davvero un bellissimo lavoro! la casa era equipaggiata con tutto quanto era necessario e il giardino con piscina è molto curato. in meno di cinque minuti si raggiunge la spiaggia (con un paio di ristoranti meritevoli) e questo è molto positivo per chi, come noi, non conosceva la zona. molto interessante il poter ordinare la spesa prima dell'arrivo: abbiamo trovato tutto il necessario per poter fare colazione al mattino e non abbiamo dovuto acquistare nient'altro (abbiamo pranzato e cenato al ristorante). Carola è stata reattiva fin dal primo minuto e Mado (conosciuto sul posto) è stato gentilissimo, così come Salum (l'uomo di riferimento in loco). mi permetto un suggerimento: l'appartamento meriterebbe di essere illuminato con lampadine a luce calda (quelle a luce bianchissima attualmente installate non fanno apprezzare appieno l'ambiente). se torneremo a Kiwengwa, sappiamo dove dormire!

Moza was great communicated well and provided a great place to stay. The location has a lot of stuff within walking distance so it was very convenient and safe.

This was by far the best place we stayed at, which was agreed upon by a group of 6 guests. Check-in was very flexible and the place looked even better than described on the site. The place was cleaned daily and Co host Bakari was very attentive by coming daily to check on us. The surrounding areas were amazing and great food was all around the place. There was nothing that fell short. Overlooking the beach with bbq amenities on the roof top that offered great views all around. This place was phenomenal. Five stars in our view.

Fantastic location on the ocean, with fabulous views from all terraces and especially from the upper outside deck. Great open plan living space with views and spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms . The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind and discreet, always there to greet and assist. The property and gardens are really well designed and have a great flow. Superb walks to the reefs at low tide. The remote location provides great privacy and relaxation, highly recommended. We will be back!

WOW what a place. It gives you an authentic Zanzibar experience. From the moment I booked the process with Stephania was flawless. She is warm helpful and responsive. We met her upon check in and she makes you very welcome. The Villa is beautiful private and spacious. It has everything you need and a little grocery pack is waiting for you. It is decorated in a true Swahili style....very tasteful. Being right on the beach you always have a nice breeze. It was very hot when we went but the villa, pool and its grounds provided some much needed respite and shade. Its position is perfect...a lot of people that walked by admired it! Stephania and Rama have a great team. Pilee tends the villa garden daily and keeps the beach in front clean and tidy and Gucci tends to the pool. He will also take you to the village to shop or buy fish ..very helpful and kind. We used Rama for our taxi needs to and from the villa and a very early airport drop. He also does some fantastic trips. A superb place.

Where to begin Where to begin? From the very first contact Moudi was responsive, helpful, respectful and precise with all of his communications, whether they were responses to our endless questions about Zanzibar, (as we had never been out of Europe before this holiday) or questions about what turned out to be the most sumptuos villa, (and private beach spot with Mohammed to look after you), a couple could ask for, so yes, Villa Uzuri, and the Host, Moudi, are THE BEST CHOICE you could make for a holiday on an idyllic island in the Indian ocean. Saying all of this does fill us with some dread because we feel we don't want to share our happy place!! Thats how we feel about Villa Uzuri.

We enjoyed staying at Rashad’s place. It’s close to everything and just a walking distance to the beach. There are other restaurants around the place. Cleaners comes every morning if you want cleaning. Rashid is a nice person and easy to communicate with as well. I highly recommend this place to other Airbnb community.

Great host. The host deserves to to be ranked as a "Super Host". The host was more than accommodating, He went above and beyond. The home was spotless and right on the ocean, as described. The view was magnificent and breathtaking. We watched the cruise ships sail past the house. Fishermen who fished for crabs often stopped by, as we lounged on the veranda or in the pool, to offer us fresh crabs from the ocean. On arrival, the host provided tropical juices, wine, and water. This was one of the best Airbnb hosts I have encountered. Should I return to Zanzibar, I hope I am lucky enough to stay at the Ocean Bay Villa. I recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to Zanzibar.

Tamarind House is a private well decorated and comfortable space over a huge piece of land with fruit trees in the back and the ocean in front. There is 24 hour staff that are very friendly, helpful and the food offered is delicious. Don't miss out ordering at least one dinner/lunch other than the breakfast that is included in the price. Jennifer as a host is extremely responsive and helpful and flexible. Although there is no beach access from the property even though it overlooks it, the hotel next door has a mangrove beach and good food. The home is a 15 minute drive to Stone Town and the driver recommended was very helpful and accommodating. Be sure to ask what the real transportation costs are in Zanzibar though because that is the biggest scam

We had a really wonderful stay here. The place is very private and access to the beach is great! Elizabeth and Idi (the helpers and caretakers) were extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend it and will definitely be back!

A little slice of heaven! We had an amazing stay at Elisabetta’s house in early January. The house is right on the gorgeous beach and it looks even better in real life than the pictures. It is very tastefully decorated and has everything you may need during your stay. The bedrooms are large and the covered patio overlooking the beach is absolutely gorgeous. It was great having Abdul to ask for recommendations and Teresa was just the best with cleaning and making us feel right at home. The town of Kiwengwa is small so we booked a few day trips from here and explored the rest of the island. Elisabetta is a wonderful host, extremely friendly and always responsive. She helped make our holiday very comfortable. We will cherish the memories that we made at Casa Di Lilli and would absolutely recommend booking this beautiful house.

Wow! This is what this totally hidden gem of a place! We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home literally localated on the beach. Super friendly staff that will always try and accommodate your requests. Winny and Joseph and the masai security took great care of us. The private gardens are enormous with plenty of seating areas to enjoy the sea breeze. Our host Sabrina was such a kind and thoughtful host, she even took time out to come visit us. She recommended great places to order food from and even arranged a local massage therapist to come visit. We would 100% recommend this beautiful hidden home to anyone wanting the luxury of a beach front getaway.

The feeling to live in a big private house with this garden almost like a jungle outside is amazing. The staff takes so good care of you and cook great meals. Jaku helped us with everything. Atm, shop,guids, food, showed us around, visit the villige school and was always on time. It is calm and not so many tourist around. The white beach outside is huge and its a great place for swimming. (I hope they start cleaning it a bit more, it deserve it. Nice restaurants close with wifi! The house is without so don't forget to load down the movie that you would like to see in the evening :) But these days its nice not having wifi all the time. Take the break, its good for us. The house gets a little dark in the evening but I hope there are more lamps next time I come back, because I really to want come back. They have changed the roof so don't get confused. its the same house as in the picture on airbnb. If you want get away from tourist and looking for a calm place just to relax, this is your house. And the house can absolutely take 15-20 persons. The villige behind it is small and not rich but the people that lives there are great and warm. we felt welcomed. So hire this place, meet the people that actually lives and was born in Zanzibar, Big hotels are all over the world, this is so much more. All my best, Siri

This place is a true gem. Hidden away, it's not the typical Zanzibar tourist spot. In fact, we were the only non-local people in the whole neighbourhood. It felt amazing to shop in the local village micro-shop, get fresh fish and calamari straight from the fish market, enjoy the private beach. If you feel like disconnecting, winding down and relaxing to the fullest - this is your place. And then, when you feel like exploring anything Zanzibar has to offer - you have all the options. Ali, the manager, is gonna be your guide, driver, and will arrange anything you please. We went to Stone Town, to Paje, to one of the spice farms, to the Jozani Forrest, to see the turtles, to go kayaking, spent a day on a boat trip (saw dolphins, went snorkelling, visited the famous sand bank, had lobster and fish on a private island). Ali even arrange for Omar, a private chef, to cook for us one evening. We hope to visit again one day. I highly recommend Nick's place! You will not be disappointed!

Simone was een geweldige host! Reageerde super snel. Saïd haalde ons van het vliegveld en stond altijd paraat. Mtumwa poetse geweldig! Brandschoon. Bedden werden elke 4 dagen heerlijk verschoond. Bij uitval van electriciteit en water was er een generator. Fijn! Strand voor de deur niet echt schoon, maar klein stukje lopen en je hebt een fijn strand. In huis een info map met allerlei tips voor uitstapjes. Je kunt de hulpzame Saïd als chauffeur vragen, of iemand anders. Kinderen uit de buurt spelen voor de deur op het strand. Wij hebben er van genoten! Zet om 17.30 je stoel op het strand en kijk naar de visserbootjes die met hun vangst terugkomen. Het huis heeft een heerlijke veranda met eettafel en stoelen, waar je kunt ontbijten etc. Wij hebben een heerlijk verblijf van 4 weken gehad en danken Simone voor de goeie communicatie! Tip: neem eea voor de kinderen mee. Ze zijn echt arm.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ingrid's place. The ability to walk out directly to the beach was incredible - as well as the night bed! It was very clean and the flexible check-in worked out very well for us as we were running a little late. Overall, great stay and well worth it.
