great location, super quiet. could use more heating in the winter (bathroom & shower cold), but would totally stay again!

If you're interested in a more traditional experience, Koji and Eri's place is beautiful, authentic, clean, and comfortable. Everything is so well thought out and set up for guests, with many authentic touches like tatami floors and a sunken dining area. It was plenty spacious for our family of four. There are some things that require adjustment, like low thresholds, steep stairs, and stepping outside to access the bathroom, but they really do add to the charm. Who wants to go all the way to Japan only to stay at a place that feels like a Holiday Inn? The location is great for exploring some of Kyoto's prime areas of interest. Communication in advance and at check-in was in English and was very clear. The personal interaction at arrival (with Eri in full Kimono) was a highlight. They are very proud of this home and take amazing care of it.

We absolutely loved this space. It was exactly what we needed after an intensive first week of travel in Japan. We were looking for something similar to a Ryokan but was more private. The large tub was the main reason we booked and it absolutely did not disappoint. It brought us all the zen we needed. The host allowed us to drop our bags early as well so we could explore and come back later for check in. Thank you for this lovely space. We wish we could have stayed more nights!!

Lovely traditional and comfortable Japanese home with plenty of room for family of 7 to eat and sleep in a quiet neighbourhood. Loved the hot tub. Good kitchen facilities if you want to cook. Wifi fast.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Yoshihiro was excellent with communication and very helpful. We received a lovely welcome note and basket of treats. The apartment is spacious with two tables to sit at and a kotatsu which my adult children loved. The kitchen has everything you need although we ate out as there are many restaurants to choose from. There is a nice Nepalese / Indian restaurant close by. There are stairs up to the property and inside, which everywhere in Japan tend to be steeper than the UK. The apartment was clean and tidy and had different towels available, the bedding, (December) was very cosy. The area around is modern with excellent pavements and there are several rail stations close by, JR Shin-Osaka is around a 15 minute walk and we used another closer station about 5 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again if we came to the Osaka area.

Our group of 4 enjoyed the only 7 min walk to central Kyoto station. It was spacious for all of us and was affordable when comparing surrounding airbnbs. Some things to be aware of is exit light in the bedroom is bright, construction is happening behind the building (usually didn’t hear much until 830) and the room layout is shogun style. Despite all these, we enjoyed our stay!

Staying in this house truly made me feel like a local, which is something I always look for in my travels. It’s tucked away in the tranquil Shoji neighborhood, just a 20-minute subway ride from the lively city center. A convenience store is only a short 3-minute walk away, making it easy to grab essentials. The house itself is beautiful and perfectly matches what I’ve always imagined living in a traditional Japanese home would be like.

Loved our stay at Mio’s place. The apartment was a lot bigger than we expected and was extremely comfortable. The heating was great and the kitchen was well equipped. We stayed here with our baby and Mio left some toys for him to play with, which we really appreciated. Its a short walk to the train station yet out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Theres also a 7/11 across the road and the coffee shop around the corner is incredible. Thanks Mio for such a lovely stay.

The Host was exceptional, She was very warm, friendly and very accommodating. The accommodation is very nice, spacious and homely. The host kindly left amenities which was useful if you got anything. The bathroom is a standout part of the accommodation , especially if You enjoy using a bath. The neighbourhood is beautiful and very peaceful, there are bus and train services nearby. There are a few restaurants within a 5 minute walk however there isn’t much options. You need to travel in to town for more options which is fairly nearby.

an easy 5 minute walk to the train station with fast transfers to trains going to Osaka and Kyoto. Hosts were super friendly and greeted us right when we arrived and when we left to ensure we were okay and if we had any questions. Hosts provided a manual on how to use all the remotes and appliances and details on how to separate the trash for city collection (perfect for foreigners who are unfamilair with them). Place was really clean and spacious, bed/pillows were comfortable, kitchen was fully stocked with appliances, utensils and tableware. Hosts also provided USB charging cubes in all the rooms and house slippers in case we needed them. Definitely will rent here again in our next stay.

近くの大学の受験時に息子と癒し要員のワンコと２泊お世話になりました。 広々とした静かな環境で集中することが出来ていたようです。 やはり一番の素晴らしさは大きな檜風呂‼ 息子も朝から窓を開け露天風呂にして身体を温めリラックスしてから出発していました。 私自身も滞在時に何度この素晴らしい檜風呂をよばれたことでしょう。 京都はやはり寒さが厳しいですが、身体が冷えたらすぐに温まりにいける素晴らしいお宿でした。 子どもが試験中の日中は大文字山に登山に行ったり、ポカポカと日の当たる縁側で飲む珈琲が最高でした。 オーナーのJinnさんも暖かく迎え入れてくださり、最後の制服姿のお写真を撮ってくださってとても素敵な記念となりました。 本当にお世話になりました。またお願いします‼

We stayed with our cats for 9 nights and think they enjoyed the view of the garden as well as the heated corridor. Our Shinkansen was delayed by 30-40mins due to snow, but we were welcomed into the house and were shown around quickly. The house had all the essentials, and felt quite warm with all the a/c, floor heaters, and gas heaters even in February. The water pressure in the bath was very strong too. If you are a member of times car share, there's a station a few mins walk from the house, right next to the bus stop. We stumbled on a sushi restaurant called Koto(?) on the south side of Fushimi train station, it was great. We ordered the most expensive sushi menu which was only 2,000 yen per person and sushi after sushi came out as they made, and each one was very fresh and tasty. You can't even get sushi under 2,000 on ubereats, and I don't know how they do it. We were the only customer and while there's no English menu or speaker there, you can use Google translator to order.

Had an amazing stay! The home was beautiful, peaceful, and in a fantastic location—close to everything yet quiet enough to relax. The host was incredibly responsive and provided great suggestions about the neighborhood. Would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Jess is a very caring dan pleasant to communicate with. the house location and ammenities has everything as promised. great home for kids. lots of toys. short walk to 2 stations. a very delicious and cheap restaurant next to the station. overall a very enjoyable stay for us as a family.

We enjoyed our stay at Megumi’s :) Definitely our favourite accomodation during our 3 weeks in Japan! The house had everything we needed and more including a full kitchen, heaters, plenty of storage space, Netflix etc. It has a very homey, cozy feel. We felt very at home. Location is great, with the train station just around the corner. Convenience stores within walking distance and plenty of restaurants. Walkable distance to Namba, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, or a very short train ride. Megumi communicates quickly and effectively. We truly appreciated having her as our host. Just be aware stairs to bedroom are extremely steep and may be unsuitable for elderly or physically impaired people.

We stayed three weeks in Hiroe's house and it was wonderful. Hiroe is a fantastic host. I have been visiting Kyoto for forty years, staying in various places but this was the best. I hope to be able to return in the future and I highly recommend Hiroe's house, a very quiet place not far from public transport and the supermarket. Thanks Hiroe!

Very convenient to JR line, Inari Shrine (10,000 gates), another subway line, a cute market and shops, and of course 7-11. We loved it. It was perfect.

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Osaka! This apartment is perfectly located near Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, and Namba—ideal for exploring all the exciting sights, shopping, and delicious food the city has to offer. The room itself was comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. The host was friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I felt truly at home and will definitely be back next time I’m in Osaka. Highly recommend!

I stayed in four locstions throughout my trip in Japan and I'm happy to say this was my favourite. Plenty of space, a lot of room! One thing to note is that it can get kinda cold, but once you turn on the heaters the place warms up well, it's not really a complaint but just something to look out for. I'd definitely stay again if I had the chance!
