This rooftop apartment setup was an absolute gem to have for the 5 nights I stayed there. I felt very safe and had no problems walking around the neighborhood at night on my own. There’s definitely things that can be added to this setup to make it ideal for longer stays which Shivanash and I already talked about and I feel certain the amenities will only improve over time. I was expecting a proper shower but had no problem getting a good wash using the huge buckets provided. Mattress is definitely on the firm side but that is no issue for me. I really enjoyed the soft and clean bedsheets (my experience from traveling in India is that spotless beddings are not a given…). I’d say this place is the perfect place for anyone on a spiritual journey that crave privacy for their practices while still being close to the hustle and bustle. Shivanash himself is a very open minded hospitable host and I have nothing but positive things to say about him :)

I stayed at Shivash's Airbnb for five days, and it was an incredible experience. The location is perfect—a 10-minute walk to Assi Ghat yet peaceful. The beds were comfortable, ensuring a restful sleep. Shivash is a humble and helpful host, always available when needed. Tip: Skip rickshaws and explore the ghats on foot to truly soak in Benaras. Must-do experiences: 1. Take a holy dip at Tulsi Ghat—it cleanses time dirt. 2. Enjoy home-style meals at Mumuksha Bhawan (₹100, walkable, check Google Maps). 3. Visit Aum Café for an eggless omelet, detox tea, and pancakes. 4. Relax at Terracotta Café’s rooftop—hidden in a narrow lane, finding it is part of the adventure. No Airbnb is perfect, but the right itinerary makes any trip unforgettable. Benaras teaches us we are already perfect—just remove time’s dust from the soul. Benaras is beyond time and space. The place was comfy and cozy. We clicked some great pictures as the place was so well designed. The caretaker was welcoming and made sure we had no trouble. He even helped us in getting some photocopies at urgent notice. The host also shared his thoughtfully curated iternary. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.
