Helen’s home is truly a hidden gem. We needed somewhere to stay close to Arthur’s Pass, and we are so lucky to have found this place. Our bedroom (and basically any other living area in her home) had an absolutely gorgeous view of the valley and the mountains. While we were there, another couple also was staying at Helen’s home in another bedroom. We all had dinner together that night and shared lots of fun stories. Helen was a great cook! She also made us a delicious breakfast the following morning and was kind enough to work around our early-morning schedule. Helen was not only amazing host, but also a very kind and gracious person. We felt so welcomed into her home almost immediately. I really loved talking to her about her outdoor adventures. She was extremely helpful and gave us suggestions on things to check out at Arthur’s Pass. Thank you so much, Helen, for your amazing hospitality! I wholeheartedly recommend Helen’s place!

We loved our stay at The Barn Killin! Hugh and Dwayne were wonderful, welcoming hosts. Highly recommend opting for dinner at the house, as well - it was delicious! Lake Ohau is beautiful and peaceful, and it was a perfect place to stop for a night. Hopefully we will be able to make it back again someday!

This was one of our favorite Airbnb experiences in many years of travels. It is set in a beautiful and quiet valley with stunning views of the mountains. We stayed in the Wilkin room which has French doors that allow you to observe the beautiful landscape from your bed. Pete and Janine are great hosts and made us feel right at home. The food they served was exceptional.

I stayed for a night in Whataroa on my way through; Cathy‘s place was very peaceful, and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

It was a handy place to stay to visit the white heron sanctuary. Cathy advised us of the lack of food outlets in the village for evening dining so we were able to bring our own food and make use of the kitchen facilities in our unit.

We had a long day of driving through the rain but Cathy’s place was a welcome haven at the end. We wanted to bbq and it was out of propane but Cathy and her husband responded immediately and got us a new tank. All was well. We only stayed one night but may stay again for more on our way back. Highly recommend.

I was driving from Motueka to Makarora so opted to spend a night here. I wasn’t doing any of the local activities as I didn’t have time unfortunately. It fitted the bill for what I needed- comfortable bed, large shower and Cathy was very friendly.

Beautiful stay and Cathy was very prompt and super responsive.

Staying at forest lodge was the best idea ever. Wish I could have stayed longer. The host was warm and friendly and the place was super clean and tidy. So it was a pleasure to cook and to relax there. Lots of things to do. The host knows the area very well and gives heaps of recommendations. I will definitely come back one day and I can recommend it a 100%.

Ao Marama retreat was a wonderful serendipitous find. We stayed longer than expected and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and tranquil setting.

We had a wonderful time! The location is gorgeous, the property has been lovingly designed and is very well thought-out, and Elizabeth and her family couldn't have been nicer. We loved the walk down to the beach and walking to Collingwood, and the birdsong in the evenings and mornings was amazing.
