Staying with this wonderful family was more than we expected. We weren’t just welcomed as guests; we felt like part of an extended family, with a calm, genuine vibe that made even introverts like us feel at home. It truly felt like we got so much more than we paid for, diving into the island’s culture, daily life, and stories. The beautiful huts are right on the beach, surrounded by lush nature with easy access to an amazing house reef. Each snorkel revealed something new—schools of fish and vibrant corals. We also explored nearby mini islands, untouched rainforest directly accessible from the resort, beautiful birdlife, and captivating historical statues. Having traveled to over 140 countries and experienced all kinds of accommodations, we found this place incredibly comfortable. To unwind, guests can enjoy several beautifully placed hammocks around the property. If you’re looking for a peaceful, culturally immersive retreat with great food, this is the perfect spot!

this is an absolutely beautiful village. so so many kids who are so so friendly, their smiles are like the sun breaking through the clouds. if you can bring extra snorkel gear to give them, or the local guys who also use it to fish, please do!! everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming on the whole island. there is not a system for tours/tourism -luckily we made friends with some people in town who were able to show us around to some places- make sure you bring extra money if you also want to go this route. no one asked for tips but we wanted to give them something for their time. if your interested in wood carvings almost everyone in town is an artist, creating masterful magical pieces. make sure you have extra space in your suitcase for that. for food- we were on a backpackers budget, couldn’t afford the fully catered option, just 2 days. we were able to bring food with us from honiara, very difficult to carry all the stuff on the ferry. if you can afford it, do catering.

Lasa went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Seeing the manta rays was a wonderful experience as watching the full moon rise over the still waters. The bungalow is powered by solar at night and Lasa will help you charge anything once the generator is on at night. He has no internet but you get good reception using mobile data. The snorkelling at Uepi was the best we saw in the Solomons.
