Beautiful location, private, pristine, peaceful. Lots of space, well set up for water activities, fireside chats, and relaxing the day away. The sauna is a wonderful addition. Well stocked with lots of towels and firewood, great layout with an open kitchen and comfortable living room.

We enjoyed our time at Castaway Ocean Lodge. The location is very peaceful and scenic. We wanted to escape from the city and relax while taking in the ocean views- the deck was a perfect place to hangout. We had already been to the area before, so we knew that most of our time would be spent at the cottage. It had everything we needed. Loads of board games, all cooking necessities and even some kayaks! We explored Crescent beach in Lockeport and drove down to Carter’s Beach for the day (well worth it). Thanks for having us!

I highly recommend this short-term rental property! The location is private and tranquil, set against stunning oceanfront and surrounded by lush forest. It’s conveniently situated near Lockport, Shelburne, and several beautiful beaches and parks, providing the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. The open-concept design, featuring a loft and a cozy wood-burning stove, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. However, the standout feature is undoubtedly the incredibly relaxing wood-fired hot tub, which is right off the deck and overlooks the ocean—an ideal spot to unplug and unwind. For the warmer months, kayaks and canoes are available for your enjoyment. There’s a big BBQ too! The hosts are very responsive and provide plenty of dry, split firewood for your convenience. This is the perfect place to completely relax and recharge. Thanks to the process of discovery, for the opportunity to experience such a wonderful getaway!

The location was so beautiful and quiet! The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. The one amenity that we missed was a dryer but the portable washer worked well. The host was very communicative and we felt like we get got a great bargain. Even though I came from the west coast, I got up at sunrise each morning and it was memorable!

Crows Neck Beach is one of the best beaches on the South Shore, and is very close by. Baccaro is an important bird watching area , especially during migration times. The Hawk and Roseway beaches are a short drive and also worth a visit. We were happy to see how well outfitted the kitchen is and the fridge is large so you can easily store a week’s groceries. The washer and dryer are modern and work well. There is an outside line if you want to hang your laundry up. The deck at the back is private and is a great spot to relax, watch and listen to the sounds of the ocean through the trees. I managed to complete a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle on the kitchen island while we were there! We look forward to returning next year.

We felt like we had a break from the world. It was peaceful, very cozy, charming, and comfortable. We slept like babies, even though it was cooler weather and we had to put wood in the stove for heat (something we enjoyed immensely). Kitchen was reasonably equipped, so we just cooked our own meals. If you’re ok with a few bugs and spiders here and there (nothing dangerous), you’ll love it. We plan to be back.

Ginny was the most lovely and gracious host. From the very first time she reached out, I felt her kindness and sincerity. She even offered an early check in, where no one had stayed the day before. She didn't need to do that, but it was incredibly thoughtful and just made us feel more welcomed. We were so excited see this place, and it didn't disappoint. The house was a beautiful combination of rustic and modern. Every accent and piece of furniture was thought out, and just added to the uniqueness of the property. The claw foot bath tub was my favourite. I would come back for that alone! I highly recommend checking this place out, especially in the fall. You can't beat Autumn in the Valley.

My wife, our dog and I had an excellent winter staycation at the Red Door Barn. The weather was frightful but it was cozy and comfortable inside with spectacular views ... a perfect spot to enjoy the winter!

Highly recommend this place!! I stayed here with three of my friends and it had everything we needed. It was a clear night and the stars were out so bright. This property also has beautiful views of the lake and is in a very peaceful area. To top it off, the host is wonderful at communicating! Check in was made extremely simple for us. Would definitely stay here again.

Amanda was a great host. She was quick to respond to any questions we had and so helpful. The location was so cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed. It has all the amenities of home and beds were super comfortable. A great location between Shelburne and Barrington.

I am not going to give away their secret but they went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. You will have to book to see how they look after you. Their home was exceptional roomy and extremely clean. Very well stocked for everything you need.

Bonnie was a wonderful host. She provided clear instructions, was helpful and always responsive even while she was away. The place was exactly as described, peaceful, quiet and the lake view was amazing. We’ll have to come back in the summer to take advance of the lake.

Maison ancienne, donc faut pas s’attendre à la modernité, mais c’est ce qui lui donne son cachet. Petite, j’ai dormi en bas, donc j’ai pas eu à me préoccuper des escaliers. Mon fils dormait en haut. Il dit que le lit était confortable aussi. Accueillie par un chevreuil à notre arrivée, sur le terrain, et un petit sapin de Noël était installé ainsi qu’un cheesecake au frigo. Belle pensée de la part de Kelsey. J’ai aimé ce petit coin tranquille.

Beautiful spot nestled in the woods on a gorgeous lake. Plenty of outdoor activities and two large cabins for those rainy days. Can’t recommend enough if you are looking for a secluded get away.

Claudia was a wonderful host. She was super helpful and ensured we got the most out of our visit. Dragonfly dreams is private and secluded. She has canoes, kayaks and a screened in porch. The sunrises are amazing and it's very peaceful listening to nature around you. We loved meeting both her and Tashi. She is definitely a warm and kind person. We highly recommend her place.

Trevor was an amazing host. He was quick to respond to my inquiries before, during, and even after our stay. The week that we had was just what my family needed. The location was very quiet and peaceful. If you like to explore the outdoors, this is the place for you. It was very easy to unplug from every day life and enjoy what this area has to offer. Lots of wildlife, from deer in the backyard to seals swimming at the beach. We had fun walking on the beach, keeping warm by the fire pit in the evenings, and hanging out on the incredible porch. I have found my happy place - Blanche, Nova Scotia. We will be back next summer.

A lovely large cabin in a beautiful setting, perfect for our annual family get together. Even though it was the end of September, our 10 year old spent several hours each day swimming in the lake and using the many watercraft options (paddle boat, kayaks, paddle board, canoe, etc). Mornings were spent sitting at the end of the dock with a coffee in hand watching the sun rise, and evenings were spent sitting around the cozy firepit. This place is serenity at its finest, and we can't wait to book again.
