Rose was very kind and welcoming. She was quick to respond to my questions and very helpful with organizing transfers and tours. Her place was great! The community is very welcoming and the room was exactly as pictured and very clean. We would love to stay here again and will recommend to all our friends!!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Matobo hills. The service was superb, the views were beautiful, and the food was to die for. Would highly recommend!

Rose and Don have build up a little paradise wiTh view over Mimblizi river. They are wonderful hosts, always willing to make you feel welcome and home. We enjoyed so much our stay and the great exchange about live in simbabwe, gardening, crocodils, fishing ... the night was just too short.

I booked for my family, and they had a lovely stay and were very well taken care of. They were very pleased with the facilities, cleanliness and friendliness of the host. Great place to stay for large groups.

Shepherd's Retreat Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. The description & photos are very accurate. The rooms are very well appointed and spacious with king size bed, bar fridge, kettle, tea & coffee, toiletries and aircon. There is also a desk and office chair which was very welcome as my colleague and I were in Bulawayo for work. Wifi was not available when we arrived, but was up and running by the following day and worked fine for the rest of our stay. We did not meet Shepherd as he was away - but Chef Wisdom and the Retreat staff were always available and very helpful - even checking us in when we arrived very late after crossing the border and driving to Bulawayo. Wisdom's breakfasts were very generous and tasty - included eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, juice, cereal, yoghurt, tea and coffee and toast. Lunch and dinner is also available on request and the staff were very attentive to any requests. Retreat Lodge is in a quiet neighbourhood with good security. It is located on the outskirts of Bulawayo - so it is best if you have your own transport. But local taxis can be arranged is needed and a trip into the centre of town takes about 20 min. I would highly recommend Retreat Lodge to others. We enjoyed our stay & hope to return again.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was so friendly and always helpful. Electricity,wifi and water always there. The food was excellent. We recommend this place. We will definitely book again.

The way from Harare takes around 6 hours depending of the traffic. Beware of the trucks on the way, they drive recklessly, and there are potholes. The lodge has a perfect lake view from a high point. There are rooms of a different size, mine had an A/C and a fridge full of soft drinks. The host, Arno, helps a lot, and the on-site manager, Happy, does his best to make the vacations wonderful. There is a lot of things to do there, including fishing, boat riding, game drive and just chilling out.

This is a very beautiful place, friendly staff, well maintained infrastructure, tasty breakfast and amicable host. The scenery is beautiful, and peaceful.

A beautiful place in a decent part of the city. Unreliable electricity but this was not such a big issue. Would happily stay here again.
